Getting upset now over dh and baby names

I have suggested many many names but the only name dh likes is Anna. I have nothing against the name Anna i just dont want to name out baby it, this is our fourth girl and he has never even suggested this name before so its not as if its a long term love of his. He is always difficult over names but really this time its ridiculous.

We had a conversation at around 20 weels when we found out it was a girl in which he said he liked the name anna (his mum was visiting and suggested it so for some reason he now loves it) and since then he has point blank refused to even consider any other names.

Now tbh if i call the baby something else then he woudl just live with it its not like hes going to go off on is own and register her BUT i dont want to just pick a name on my own i want to agree!

What would you do in this situation ive tried being blunt ("we are not calling the baby fucking Anna" seeme clear enough to me) . I have tried getting him to look at some other names to find any others he likes. Where do i go from here?!

I am 36 weeks pregnant so its not as if there is unlimited time left to faff about with anna.

Thats a good idea about the an sound since he rejected Eva for being too similar to Emily. Even MIL pointed out about anns sounding like hannah and he seemed unconcerned Confused

Give him a shortlist of the names you like, tell him the baby will be called one of those names and ask him which ones he likes. Or pick something terrible and insist that it will be the middle name if he gets his way with Anna?

Bathan and Anna do seem to similar to me and Hannah and Anna is a bit silly really :)

I don't think it's fair for one person to insist on a certain name if the other isn't keen. You need to find a name you both like. Anna is a nice enough name but if you don't want to use it then you shouldn't. It wasn't even his idea, it was his mum's! I agree with nooka's suggestion of a shortlist for your DH to consider.

Here are some names I think would fit with your other DCs names.

Georgia
Isabelle
Katherine (Katie)
Olivia
Laura
Emma
Lydia
Lucy
Chloe
Abigail

Naomi
Holly
Jasmine
Phoebe
Cara
Skye
Amber

How about putting a 'Jo' in front of it, Joanna? Lovely name and underused at the moment!

ScoutJemAndBoo · 29/01/2012 09:34

Ooh joanna is a great compromise and a pretty name.

Susanna would work too.

I had this issue when pregnant with my DD the only name my DP ever came up with was Abigail and I wasn't keen I felt we both had to like the name but I was willing to have it as a middle name if he liked it that much. We didn't use it and we didn't use it as a middle name either as we finally found a name we both liked. Perhaps suggest it as a middle name this way he could feel he had some say too?
