Maya and Isla too similar or a perfect match for twin sisters?

Lovely names! Sounds fine to me

biglips · 26/01/2012 19:51

perfect

belgo · 26/01/2012 19:52

can't see a problem. Nice names.

Luckymuffins · 26/01/2012 19:54

So it will be Maya pronounced as my-a with eye-la?

OP posts:
pooka · 26/01/2012 19:56

Sorry - I think mye-a and eye-la are too similar (for my tastes).

belgo · 26/01/2012 19:57

I would pronounce Maya as May-a, and Isla as Eye-la.

DialMforMummy · 26/01/2012 19:58

Yes IMO.

DialMforMummy · 26/01/2012 19:59

As in, yes, too much.

FaithHopeAndKevin · 26/01/2012 20:12

Yes. I'm already saying Myla and Isla.

Firawla · 26/01/2012 20:21

I dont think they are that similar, both are nice names

Kayzr · 26/01/2012 20:32

Both lovely names but maybe a bit too much.

OliviaMumsnet · 26/01/2012 20:42

My sister's name ends in -ia too and we used to both hear each other's name when called. Twas rather annoying. Possibly more so for twins
Good luck though.

k8tykins · 27/01/2012 01:27

Chances are for the first few years you'll always be calling them, or talking about them together, so they work really well and aren't hard to say in rapid succession! As they grow up and do their own thing, then they're also lovely names on their own. Have you thought about middle names??

nooka · 27/01/2012 06:19

I think that they would turn into Myla and Isla too, and that does sound slightly ridiculous. I'd chose names that sound less like a pair for twins.

Littlefish · 27/01/2012 06:29

Those names are both very popular at the moment. That may not be important to you, but if it is, you might want to have a re-think.

buggyRunner · 27/01/2012 06:33

We have an islay and Eva they go well together (not twins)

HappyHoppyHippy · 27/01/2012 06:56

I know people who called their twins Isla and Skye!!! No joke...they are Scottish but still.....your names are lovely

Lonnie · 27/01/2012 08:01

Yes I think it is to much lovely names but not together.

dd2 and 3 have names both ending in the sound "ah" and like with Olivia it does at times mean they come running going " were you calling me?" and dd3 often gets called the first 2 syllabus of dd1's name then her own name.

I agree they will become Myla and Isla
