My Step-dad comes from a hungarian family and I would like to represent him in DC's name. So I have settled on giving DC a hungarian name.

Boys name is settled.

Tamás Edward

Still have to pick a girls name though (middle name will be Mary)

Aliz
Edit
Erika
Vilma
Mónika
Katalin
Judit

Aliz is nice.

I know a little hungarian Kyra, I thought it was very pretty.

TinkerMaloo · 24/01/2012 10:33

Katalin Mary or maybe Erika Mary seem to flow best to me! Aliz is nice too though...

marshmallowpies · 24/01/2012 10:35

Like Erika a lot!

I've been told Alma is Hungarian too, not sure if it definitely is, but it's a nice name.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 24/01/2012 10:40

Katalin is definitely a boy's name in those part of the world.

Aliz and Erika.

deelipip · 24/01/2012 10:49

LeM Katalin is definatly a girls name - it is a version of Catherine. Lots of well known Hungarian women have it as a name

I live next to the boarder all the Catalin and Katalin I know are boys or rather men. Funny that if you cross it changes gender.

Stay simple though has a lot of hungarian name are very difficult to pronounce. I still prefer Aliz and Erika with Mary.

Cubtrouble · 24/01/2012 12:04

Alma means Apple in Hungarian ;-) Cute!

What about Zsuzanna or Zsuzsi for short (Suzanna or Suzy) more J sounding

Aniko?

dippydoodah · 24/01/2012 13:10

I like Katalin and it goes well with Mary.

narmada · 26/01/2012 22:29

I know a male Catalin, but he is originally from Romania, not Hungary. Aliz is my fave from your list.

purpleflower123 · 26/01/2012 22:35

My Dh is hungarian. We gave our 3 first names that were almost the same in bost languages but spelt english, they then have hungarian middle names.

DS is Adam Akos
DD1 is Rebecca Erzsebet
DD2 is Abigail Ibolya

From your list I like Katalin.

Vilma would be difficult because of the V/W confusion.

PopcornBiscuit · 27/01/2012 10:41

Erika Mary :)

I like Erika and Monika best. Of those, Erika goes better with Mary.

Aliz - not keen (I find Alice rather dull)
Edit - reminds me of editing documents
Erika - lovely :)
Vilma - too Scooby Doo (Velma)
Mónika - lovely :)
Katalin - too feline
Judit - OK but a bit middle-aged

TuesdayNightClub · 27/01/2012 14:17

Aliz is lovely, so is Erika. I know a hungarian called Beatrix which I abosolutely love.

IndigoBell · 27/01/2012 14:56

My favourite Hungarian name is Ilona :)

MadgeEstic · 27/01/2012 15:01

Erika Mary is lovely.

randomimposter · 27/01/2012 15:22

Katalin is lovely. 2nd choice Aliz.

My nephew is Thomas Edward

RockinD · 27/01/2012 19:34

All the Catalins I know are boys, but I do know a girl called Catalina.

I love Ilona - that was on the list both times for us.
