i'm sure this has been done but i just wanted some sage words re double barreling DP's and my surname. We are expecting a baby and both are adamant our surnames are passed on.

I'm not keen on double barrels but it seems the only option. Also it also affects our first name and middle name choices.

We only seem to like long greek 1st names, so with a double barrel surname it is already sounding pretentious, moi?

DH & I both went double barrelled when we married (because I wanted to continue my family name and he didn't want a different name to me and future DCs).

With DD1 & soon to be DD2 it has influenced our choice of names. We have gone for a short name with DD1 & we're going for a longer name for DD2 but it must have a short nn. As DM said "think about the poor things learning to write their names"!

I don't feel "posh" when I tell people our name but I do often have to repeat it (and sometimes can't be arsed so revert to my maiden name!).
