Are there more girls names than boys names?

Hi, pregnant with my first and not due til the summer but thinking about names. Girls names aren't such an issue as there are plenty we like but I'm really struggling with boys names.

I have been given a couple of books and looked through some baby name websites and am starting to wonder if there are simply more girls names than boys names? Has anyone else thought this or I am simply in a grump because I can't find one I like?

You're right. For every male name there is a female so Henry / Henrietta, then they filter in from other languages so that adds a few.

Then there are names that only normally apply to boys such as names of flowers and jewels, the Daisies and Pearls out there.
