Everyone will think you named her after Cameron Diaz. Can you deal with that? would your (future) DD be happy with that?

LittlePandaBear · 12/01/2012 18:51

Or David Cameron!

Maybe Carmen as an alternative?

McQueasy · 12/01/2012 18:52

She could be named after worse celebs!
Mind you, by the time she grows up Cameron will be wrinkly Hmm

I only know of girls called Cameron, sometimes spelled Camryn though.

McQueasy · 12/01/2012 18:53

They've been doing it in America for years. If you watch ANTM they have had a Ryan and Kyle as well as others. An old school friend of mine had a baby a couple of years ago called Benedict.

I think cameron is fine for a girl.

meditrina · 12/01/2012 18:59

I think of it as a female name, and a very Jilly Cooper one to boot, because of Cameron Cook in Rivals.

hugebump3 · 12/01/2012 19:56

I know a female Cameron. Ever since Cameron Diaz it has become a well known female name.

In fact, I don't know a single male Cameron...

thisisyesterday · 12/01/2012 19:58

cameron is a unisex name isn't it??

lilyliz · 12/01/2012 21:25

it is very popular here in scotland but a male name only far as I know, find it hard to believe some people never met a cameron

Bakerbelle · 12/01/2012 21:39

Friends of ours just called their daughter Cameron. I think it's fab!

AberdeenAngusina · 12/01/2012 22:28

It was used for girls in Victorian Scotland - my Granny's female cousin was called Cameron, and she was named after an aunt. I only know male Camerons now, though.

workshy · 12/01/2012 22:33

there are 4 Camerons in DD's junior school -in Leeds, all boys

bonbonpixie · 12/01/2012 23:48

Personally I think it's a lovely name.

I'd have Sydney/Sidney for a girl if it suited our surname.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 13/01/2012 00:22

I know a 10-year old girl Cameron. I think of it as a unisex name, although wouldn't personally chose it for a girl.

AnxiousElephant · 13/01/2012 00:25

Charlie, Lesley, Dominique, Winnie, Freddie, Hmm

AnxiousElephant · 13/01/2012 00:26
