Here's the shortlist of baby names I'm considering that I generated with Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder. Let me know what you think.

Girls: nice. Boys: not so.
HTH

Jack - lovely; very frequently used - are you OK with that?
Nash - doesn't do it for me - I thought Ogden
Obie - Wan Kenobi? I think this would be difficult to live with
Ocean - Billy?

Bella - lovely
Lucy - lovely
Tilly - lovely as a nn

JestersHat · 09/01/2012 23:04

Jack - Fine, although ultra-popular. How about John with Jack as nickname?
Nash - reminds me of gnashing teeth
Obie - Obi-Wan Kenobi
Ocean - I quite like this!

Bella - nice as nickname for Annabella or Isabella
Lucy - lovely, classic
Tilly - Matilda/Tilly are getting quite overdone now

Apart from Jack, your boys names are a bit... unusual.
Nash - Gnasher from Dennis the Menace.
Obie - Wan Kenobi.
Ocean I'm not fussed on, but it's a bit weird.
Love Jack, but it's extremely popular.

Bella and Lucy are lovely, but I don't like Tilly as name of its own.

Jack is fine, but popular. The other 3 boys names are just silly.

All the girls names are nice. I like Tilly best I think, I'd have it as nn for a longer name though (and same with Bella).

oikopolis · 11/01/2012 03:15

Jack - I would use John or Jacob, and nn him Jack. Jack is v v popular.
Nash - no. Mash, Rash, etc. and in any case it's a surname not a first name.
Obie - no. Star Wars.
Ocean - no. Oceane is a popular girls' name in France, and I can see why, Ocean has a v feminine ring to it.

Bella - I would use Isabel/la, Arabel/la or Annabel/le and nn her Bella. But I probably wouldn't use; this name is used in Twilight and will be massively popular in the next few years.
Lucy - One of my favourites of all time.
Tilly - I would use Matilda and nn her Tilly. (Though tbh I'm not hugely keen on either of the names - personal taste and nothing more)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/01/2012 20:03

Obie - you are joking right?
ocean - ridiculous imho. Sorry but you did ask.
Nash - one's teeth

This is a terrible list, I'm afraid.

Jack - boring and sounds hard.

Love Bella as a nn for isobel.

pilates · 12/01/2012 20:26

Love Jack don't like the other boys names.

Girls names are nice.

smithster · 12/01/2012 20:34

instead of Ocean, how about Osian? pronounced oshann, it's welsh / irish in origin. very popular in Wales.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 12/01/2012 20:43

Boys
Jack - fine but a tad overused now I feel
Nash - teeth (gnash I know, but still). Or American.

Obie - Wan Kanobi
Ocean - Don't be silly

Girls
Bella - Fine, prefer Belle
Lucy - Fine
Tilly - I didn't used to like it (Cathrine Cookson overtones), but I know a little Tilly now and she's lovely :)
