Girls names:

Maria - DH not keen but I like it. I think its classic, works in a lot of languages and especially suits a dark haired, olive skinned girl (baby will be mixed-race)

Etta - I love this name. Again, DH not keen. (Oh, and Loretta as the full name as it is a family name).

Rosanna / Rosa - love both of these, simple/feminine/classic and Rose is a family name. DH OK about it.

Grace - I know it is extremely popular, but I have always loved it. Again, DH not keen.

I have no clue about boy's names, really.

I loved Otis, but a close cousin recently used it .

Also love Oisin (I am half Irish), but DH thinks the Galeic spellings are tricksy (he is Trinidadian, btw).

All opinions/suggestions welcome!

I like all the names, think Grace works better as a middle name though. I have a Rosanna in the family so my vote goes there

I love Grace and would not worry if it were popular.

I like all your names except Grace which I think is a bit boring (just because there are so many more of them about than Marias, Rosannas or Lorettas), but think you need to work with your dh to find something that you both really like. Grace woudl make a very nice middle name for your other three ideas.

Love Maria and Rosanna / Rosa. Grace is nice but I know of so many that it put's you off a little.

Maria is my middle name and I love it. I think it's very underused and wish it was more popular. DH doesn't like it though

OP Maria and Roseanna (Rosa) were on my shortlist for DD and got vetoed by DH. Grace wouldn't work as we live in France. I have now stolen Etta :)

We like the same names so if you have any suggestions for boys names (for DC2, due in four weeks), would be gratefully appreciated!

Should say Etta has been put on my shortlist for DC2, we didn't actually end up naming DD any of those names. We went for a very traditional name which works well in any language.

Rosa, Maria & Etta were all on our list. Love them.

Love Maria and Rosa, both lovely classic names. Rosanna is nice but I think I prefer Rosa as its shorter. Grace would great as a middle name for any of the names on your list but is quite popular as a first name. I do like Etta but not sure about Loretta, just sounds a bit harsh and not as classic as your other suggestions.

I love Maria, it's very understated and classy.

Prefer Rosa to Rosanna which is also nice but a little bit too frilly.

Grace is too overused as both a first name and even more as a middle name, it seems like a default middle name along with Rose or May.
