Sadly DP has had the last word on Ernie and it has been strongly vetoed :( However we have managed to get together a new shortlist for both a boy or girl - opinions?

Nora Maeve
Lydia Maeve
Tamsin Maeve

Seamus Alexander
Marcus Alexander
Fergus Ciaran

Any other suggestions?

Nora isn't good.

Lydia Maeve is gorgeous. Tamsin Maeve is nice.

Not fond of any of the boys' names but Marcus Alexander sounds the best to me.

MrsTwinks · 08/01/2012 19:16

I agree Nora Maeve doesn't read right. Seamus Alexander doesn't either, otherwise all lovely

Kayano · 08/01/2012 19:17

Lydia and Marcus

rachel234 · 08/01/2012 19:24

I like Nora. And Seamus is lovely too.

Littlecherublegs · 08/01/2012 19:33

Lydia and Seamus (love Shay!)

pranma · 08/01/2012 19:36

Tamsin or Lydia
Fergus or Seamus

gastonscave · 08/01/2012 19:41

I have a Fergus and in eleven years have only come across three others. Was accosted in Brighton when he was a few months old by a lovely looking man who had a nephew by the same name.

I also know an Ernie and he is the most adorable little man. Love both names

lyonheart · 08/01/2012 22:09

I'm being drawn towards Seamus at the moment but DP not so keen. Any suggestions of similar names?

OP posts:
BlueIvy · 08/01/2012 22:13

Maeve is so much nicer than any of the first names you have chosen.
Lydia is quite nice. Not keen on Nora or Tamsin at all.

Seamus is the only one of your boy's names I would with.

JestersHat · 08/01/2012 22:16

Would you use Ciaran or Alexander as first name? Ciaran Alexander or Alexander Ciaran would be nice. Similarly I'd mix up the girls' names and go for Lydia Tamsin.

tammytoby · 08/01/2012 22:19

Seamus is great.

I'm not keen on any of your girls' names but if I had to choose, then probably Lydia.

lyonheart · 08/01/2012 22:22

DP says he doesn't like Alexander and Ciaran enough to be first names but likes them enough to be middle names Hmm

DigOfTheStump · 08/01/2012 22:32

Lydia and all boys names as fab, and I like the middle names too.

humblehippo · 08/01/2012 23:37

I really like all the girls names, probably Nora the most. I think the boys are fine but don't love them as much. Suggestions of names you might like: Owen, Reuben, Rowan, Alastair, Finn?

hohohoshedittant · 09/01/2012 00:14

In order of preference;

  1. Tamsin
  2. Nora
  3. Lydia
  1. Marcus
  2. Seamus
  3. Fergus

Not mad keen on any of them tbh, but that's just a personal view.

lurkinginthebackground · 09/01/2012 00:17

Lydia and Seamus for me.

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 09/01/2012 00:18

Lydia and Fergus

Lydia

Marcus

midlandsnightnannybabysitter · 09/01/2012 00:48

I love Seamus but that's the only one from your lists I like

ChocolatEtVin · 09/01/2012 10:36

I would go for any of them, they're all lovely!

Montsti · 09/01/2012 12:40

None are really to my taste, but my favourites would be Lydia and Fergus (followed by Seamus). Not keen on Nora, Tamsin or Marcus at all...

upatdawn · 09/01/2012 17:53

Seamus is so cool and very underused nowadays!

LynetteScavo · 09/01/2012 17:56

Seamus was on my boys list for DS1, but now I think I prefer Fergus.

Not keen on any of the girls names, although none are awful.

woopsidaisy · 09/01/2012 17:58

My Dad is James Alexander, but we're Irish so he gets called Seamus. He is a complete eccentric pet, so I love the name Seamus. It is very popular in the North of Ireland, with nn Seamie-pronounced shay-mee.
