Can anyone think of a good 'full name' for Tilly that isn't Matilda?

DH and I like Tilly but I don't like using nicknames as full names. I don't know why, I just don't. I also don't really like Matilda. Can anyone think of a name which could stand as a full name for Tilly?

I currently have Tilda which DH doesn't like and I'm meh about. And Talitha which I love and he thinks is pretentious.

Talitha isn't at all pretentious in my book. It's really pretty. I also thought Tilda was a nn for Matilda. What about Mathilde as an alternative to Matilda?

Tallulah? We used this for a middle name for DD as we'd nicknamed the bump Tilly but we don't like Matilda. We intended to call her Tilly but her first name turned more suited to her.

I would always assume a Tilly was short for Matilda if anything.

These threads always make me smile. If you've reached the point where you're picking random names where one of the letters matches to get a nn from then you might as well call her Jean and nickname her Tilly. Or Margaret, Peter or Samuel. Once you get away from the actual name it comes from then you can stick a pin in the phone book for all the difference it makes.

I think Otilie is the only legitimate option. Let's be honest, Tilly is short for Matilda. Charlotte goes to Lottie and Millicent goes to Millie. Natalie is only Tilly at a push.

Not really Gwendolin as it's how Tilly sounds as a name that I like, and now I have a lot of names that go along the same lines. We're not set in stone so it's been hugely helpful for me. Hell, it may not even be a girl. Though come to mention it, Samuel is in the shortlist for boys names...

Bunty, if this baby is a girl she's going to be over 6ft, I think Atilla would be a leetle cruel same goes for Clothilde...

Agree with Gwendoline. If the full name isn't the one where the nickname was derived from, it gets rather contrived.
