After much to-ing and fro-ing, we have a name!

Celyn Wynter D.....

That's the first name we've been able to agree on! I'm under no illusions that it will be the name we finally choose, but we both like it and the Celyn bit really appeals to the Welsh in me. Wynter is his choice.

What do you think? Be gentle please

Agree with most other posters- Celyn is a girls name and Winter would look much better. I like it if it's for a girl. If its a boy, no way.

deemented · 08/01/2012 09:17

It is definately for a girl.

Anf fwiw, i much prefer Winter, with an i - i'll work on him with that Wink

oikopolis - Where i live, most people i know can speak Welsh, my children are taught Welsh in school, though not as a first language and my English family can just about get their tounges around my DS3's very Welsh middle name - Aneurin. I don't think Celyn will be too much of a problem Wink

There you go then, Celyn is lovely with Winter with an i :)

I got a B in my Welsh second language GCSE.

Are you North or South, Dee?

Aah, I was North Wales. Glad you have decided on a name Smile

TuesdayNightClub · 08/01/2012 12:32

Hmm I thought that was a boy's name. Where I am (up North) boys are called Caylan and things like that so I thought boy. Oops. Blush

Agree about the spelling of Wynter, with an 'i' would be nicer.

ScroobiousPip · 09/01/2012 02:58

Oops, i thought it was a boy's name too, especially with Winter/Wynter as a middle name! Blush

nooka · 09/01/2012 04:03

You don't need to feel embarrassed. It seems to be a boys name that is now used by girls. Like Evelyn, Lindsay or Hilary.

popsicle1984 · 09/01/2012 06:18

I thought in Welsh names that end in 'yn' were masculine and the feminine versions ended in 'en'? E.g. Gwyn being a mans name and Gwen being a woman's name?

nicknamenotinuse · 09/01/2012 06:40

Wynter is horrible. Winter is lovely.
