I'm 33+6 and we know we are having a girl (well that's what we've been told!) The names me and DH have been thinking we are keeping quiet so we have something to 'announce' but like everyone really I'm just not too sure! We don't want to pick something until we can meet her and see what she looks like but it'd be good to have a couple to chose from! So

Laila Emily (emphasis on the I!) this is my fave
Nancy Emily - DH fave
Daisy Emily - i've become a bit meh over as daisy is becoming really popular apparantly!

Is Emily a family name? If not, I don't think it really goes with any of your first name choices.

Re: your first names, Nancy is the only one that I like.

Emily is dh grandmas name who he was really close to and lived with for a while. we've had a few arguments over it as i dont like the notion of some child being named after someone they will never meet. but kinda relented. really struggled with girl names. nothing really says wow, just 'itl do'

Don't like Laila or Nancy. Love Emily and Daisy but don't think they 'go' together terrible well tbh.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/01/2012 22:04

terribly

MrsOzz · 07/01/2012 22:20

I like Laila best. Then Nancy. I can't imagine a grown woman named Daisy, although it is pretty.

I also agree that Laila Emily doesn't 'flow' as well as it could. Have you thought about having Emily as a second middle name. Then your daughter gets her 'own' middle name and also her great grandmothers.

I like:
Laila Elisabeth Emily Surname
Laila Maisie Emily Surname
Laila Daisy Emily Surname
Laila Sophia Emily Surnmame
Etc

Good luck finding a name!

I don't like Laila and to be honest think Lila just sounds like Lilo! Sorry.

melliebobs · 08/01/2012 13:38

Nah that's ok. Like I said none of them say 'wow' to me so I won't be off to cry in the corner about itSmile

Thought about the 2 middle name thing but it's a bit much. They never get used anyway! Unless they are in trouble

Nancy is a great name. Nancys in my view are very feisty and independent women (Nancy Blackett, Nancy Mitford) so it's a name that has a lot of positive associations for me. (Won't be using it myself as a friend already has, but I still think it's a great name).

PDog · 08/01/2012 14:13

I like Nancy best Mellie . And I think you could get away with Emily as a mn with your surname, sounds better when you say it all together.

comedaygoday · 08/01/2012 15:07

I really like Nancy. It has positive associations for me too - Mitford and Astor. I'm not sure it goes well with Emily though. Don't like Daisy, it's too cutsie for my tastes or Laila, I think it would be annoying having to explain how it was pronounced all the time.

QueenVictoria42 · 08/01/2012 18:21

Nancy is lovely, and I think it goes fine with Emily. It's going to be very rare that you'll have to state her full name. Perhaps insert another middle name to break it up as someone else suggested, or alternatively use Emma? Works slightly better but I really don't think Nancy Emily is such a terrible mouthful. Laila - not good. But that's just me. Daisy - makes me think of someone who is a bit slow.

JestersHat · 08/01/2012 18:22

Daisy - like, outdoorsy and pretty
Laila - OK
Nancy - flouncy and sickly

Beamur · 08/01/2012 18:24

Nancy has a certain character to it, but I quite like Laila - it does sound like a fresher alternative to Lily etc. It does sound a bit foreign though IMO - not that that is good or bad.
I don't think it matters that much how the middle name sounds with it - it's not as if you say the whole name out loud much is it?

Nancy Emily is beautiful :)
