Needed; classic type names to go with strongish surname

Help us.

We are desperately seeking names to go with our surname - Parker. Might sound simple enough but, as we are discovering, it is actually rather a harsh sounding name and many names do not sound so nice alongside it.

We like classic type names, either common or more unusual, but names that you would describe as unlikely to date. I love Charlotte (neice) and Abigail (sister), or Alexander (BIL, definitely not naming a child after him..) and Joseph (unfortunately DH's boss's name and he feels a little weird about that).

DH likes classic names that are a little bit different, or as he describes it, names with a bit of 'bite' Confused. I am not really into the girly girl names like Sophia, Isabella, Daisy etc. (no offense intended). I also dont like names that are also commonly surnames.

Begging for your suggestions!

Watching with interest as this sound similar to my requirements for DC2.

A few I've considered:

Boys - James, Oliver, Daniel, Robin, Craig
Girls - Gillian, Amy, Gemma, Gail, Helen, Maria, Stephanie

It's not easy is it?

Peter? Wink

Charles
Philip
Edward
James
all classics and strong names but perhaps too "usual" for your tastes.

Frederick
George
Ian
Richard
Stephen
less usual these days, still classic and ageless

Girls:
Margaret
Alice
Eleanor
Elizabeth
Anne
Philippa

Katherine sounds nice with Parker.

How about thinking of names that have strong sounding nicknames...eg Tim Parker, Steve Parker.

Anything but Peter Smile

Yes, I would avoid anything beginning with P but otherwise you have a pretty free rein.
