Chivonne?!

BIL wants to call the baby Chivonne.

I said "oh Siobhan, how lovely" - but no, apparently Chivonne is 'a different name' and he doesn't like she spelling of Siobhan.

I am catsbumming but I'm an old lady - is it a name 'in its own right' or is it a misspelling?

can you not just laugh out loud and say "i thought for one awful moment, you were serious"?

Is your d-sis INSANE to have committed to this trade-off of Christian name vs surname? Did she not have an inkling of this severe personality flaw before she signed?
I think divorce is the only answer.

And I think compromises and trade-offs are all very well if you're opting whether to go to Starbucks or Costa. But your child's NAME???!! Both of you MUST be on-board with that and really love it. Just remind her how many millions, yes millions of times she's going to be uttering it over a lifetime. Not to mention how many people, rightly or wrongly, are going to judge her on it. And blaming him won't cut it.
