Perry... For a girl

We love the name Perry for a little girl, but why could it be short for as we're not sure about Perry on a birth certificate.

I love Persophone but the husband doesn't...

I know a beautiful, glamorous, vivacious older woman called Perry (with that spelling). I have always thought it was a lovely name for a girl.

EatMeDates · 12/12/2011 08:26

Peri is...just, NO

MelanieWiggles · 12/12/2011 08:28

Another one here who thinks of Kevin and Perry !

Could you call her Persephone, with Perry for short ?

MelanieWiggles · 12/12/2011 08:29

Ah sorry - just read your OP again - Persephone already on your list !

Redrubyblues · 12/12/2011 12:40

What about Perdita?

tammytoby · 12/12/2011 13:29

Haven't read the whole thread but to me Perry is a male name, short for Peregrine.

LaTristesse · 12/12/2011 18:21

I did like it, but all I can think of since reading too much about pg is perineum, sorry!

survivingwinter · 12/12/2011 20:31

ditto tammytoby - Perry for me is a male name - short for Peregrine I guess or in its own right. I would have liked it for DS (DH just roared with laughter!)

Perry Fenwick is an Eastenders actor isn't he?

StellaAndFries · 12/12/2011 20:34

My bil is called Perry so I couldn't imagine it as a girls name.

NeuromanticisedVisionsofXmas · 12/12/2011 20:39

Cans of Ritz.

kindling · 12/12/2011 20:54

Makes me think of Peri Peri sauce from Nando's.

Could be short for Petrina though - love this.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 13/12/2011 11:42

Perryn is a popular cornish name for girls. I think it could work nicely.

noddyholder · 13/12/2011 11:43

dreadful

olliesmummy234 · 14/12/2011 09:13

Boys name

amandine07 · 14/12/2011 13:39

Hmm Perry seems more like a boys name, definitely sure it is. Wasn't there a character on Harry Enfield called Perry, one of the teenagers who was mates with Kevin?!

I love Perrine, it's a French name for a girl

Wants3 · 16/12/2011 15:37

My eldest DS is Perry. When he was little older kids thought it was cool that it was the same name as 'Kevin and Perry' he is 16 and we have not come across another one. I have heard of female Perri but that was tattoed across someone's back!:/

oikopolis · 16/12/2011 15:44

I know a female Perrin and I think it's quite a nice name. Not sure of its authenticity/whether it's a "real name", and it's a little androgynous, but if you're OK with that then go for it.

Perry = pear cider or boy's name to me, sorry. OK as a nickname though.

HereKittyKitty · 16/12/2011 16:13

I'm not massively keen, but I do think Pernille, or Pernilla are very pretty.

TwoIfBySea · 20/12/2011 07:59

Danish friend is called Pernille but it's shortened to 'Nille (Nilla) rather than Peri. There is a Scandinavian boys name Per, not much use sorry - have you tried the Behind The Name website?
