I have name changed for this one,but I am a regular,in need of some help please.
I already have 2 children and pg with number 3,and pondering names.
I've always loved the name Felix but so far I haven't used it,due to the cat connotation, but I'm now very tempted.
The problem I now have (apart from the cat association) is that our eldest is called Oscar, but as this will be child number 3,obviously it won't just be Oscar and Felix,as I'll have a middle child.
Being a little older, the film The Odd Couple also springs to mind Xmas Grin
Would just like people's opinion's please.Would you,or would it be a definate no-no? Thanks!

My ds2 is called Felix Oscar and I named him this fully aware of the Odd Couple. The only people to ever comment on it were on MN, seemingly no-one in RL has ever heard of 'em.

He was going to be called Felix Arthur until a friend told me that that was two brands of cat food!

Pepper15 · 08/12/2011 21:53

I'm not too bothered about the name being popular tbh.
Ds1 is the only Oscar at his school and there are no Felix's....yet!
Definately warming to the name I think Xmas Smile

I love Felix. I'd use it.

JennyPiccolo · 08/12/2011 21:56

there's a shop in glasgow called felix and oscar. innit.

deepthinks · 08/12/2011 21:59

Feelix sounds like a name from a Knock-Knock joke.

libbyssister · 08/12/2011 22:01

Yep, Oscar and Felix remind me of The Odd Couple and my cousin called his two dogs these names for that very reason!

happybubblebrain · 08/12/2011 22:01

I loved the name Felix until I met a very horrible person with the name.

notmytname · 08/12/2011 22:02

I like both, but then I am also a fan of the shop.

NoWayNoHow · 08/12/2011 22:04

Personally don't like Felix, but know an Oscar and Felix pair of siblings, and IMO the names go well together - although that might just be because I'm used to them!

hohohoshedittant · 08/12/2011 22:04

I like Felix, it is a bit catty, but not enough to put me off. Kitty is popular now and that's got to be worse (in terms of more catty).

I don't know the film so wouldn't think Oscar and Felix is an odd combo.

Love Oscar

Motherofhobbit · 08/12/2011 22:06

I really like Felix and it wouldn't make me think of cats

Floggingmolly · 08/12/2011 22:09

Personally I hate names that sound like they belong to dogs or cats. London has exploded lately with kids called Rufus, Bruno, Felix, Rex, etc,
Haven't actually met a Fido, but am sure there's one somewhere. They're awful.

Lancelottie · 08/12/2011 22:14

To be fair, I've never met an actual cat called Felix. All the mogs round here seem to be called things like Barbara, Kenneth and Sid.

MeconiumHappens · 14/12/2011 21:29

Felix is a great name.

guinealady · 14/12/2011 22:35

My nephews are Oscar and Felix, I think their mum & dad had forgotten about the Odd Couple. I can't imagine them being called anything else now, but I do hear a lot of other 'Oscars' and 'Felixes' being called in the playground so there are quite a few of them around now...

Ihatepeas · 14/12/2011 22:53

I know 3 brothers Oscar, William and felix. Think they are great together and have never considered the cat/dog thing maybe because William is in the middle iyswim. I think they are lovely names.

RillaBlythe · 14/12/2011 23:01

I know twins called Oscar and Felix. I've never heard of this fill
& like the names together.

emmyloo2 · 15/12/2011 02:22

Both are nice but I do wonder whether the two together is too much?

But I love Oscar and Felix is a great name. What about Fergus instead of Felix?

bridgingtheabyss · 15/12/2011 16:09

Apart from the cat connection, Felix is a very middle-class name. It would be cute on a little boy, but what about on a grown-up 6 foot rugby player? I would expect a Felix to be well-spoken, smartly dressed (got an image in my head of a guy wearing a hat, overcoat, cravat and leather gloves), skinny and intellectual.
