5th DC due 3 days after christmas - is a christmassy name required?

I'm hoping the answer to this is no! We haven't found out the sex and need a name to go with our other DC - Tobias, Jago, Sorrell and Asa so a name that is known but not common (our Tobias was named when Toby was NOT a top 50 name!). We haven't really got any ideas so far so any suggestions, even if it's just a list of your favourite names, would be great!

No I'd say definitely don't go for a christmassy name!

How about:

Dashiell
Austin
Corin
Corbin
Bryn
Morgan

just to start you off Smile

FootprintsInTheSnow · 07/12/2011 18:47

Noel.

Santa.

Natalie.

Rudolph.

Elfie.

Frost.

Darn it - you've borne 4 children already - you deserve some seasonal fun with this one!

No, giving a child a name based on birth order or time of year they're born is awful (IMO)

How about

Casper
Horatio
Sebastian/Bastian
Lucas
Jacob
Melchior (christmassy and also quite nice)

hohohoshedittant · 07/12/2011 20:07

Ooh have just realised Caspar was one of the wise men/kings as well and so in fairness must also add;

Balthasar

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 07/12/2011 20:10

Lurking as dd2 looks likely to make an appearance a couple of days after Christmas. Definitely no festive names? Xmas Sad

hohohoshedittant · 07/12/2011 20:13

No. Unless you would have chosen the name anyway had the child been born any other time of the year

Northernlurker · 07/12/2011 20:14

I love a good festive name me!

Robin - for a boy only

Natalie/Natalia

Christopher?

Holly

Noel - love that!

Mary!

bagelmonkey · 07/12/2011 20:14

Or Jesus. You don't meet many boys named Jesus around here.

AnotherMincepie · 07/12/2011 20:25

I like Christmassy names! :)

Gloria

Ivy
Winter

Malachi
Christian
Christopher
Theodore
Emmanuel
Robin
Nathaniel

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/12/2011 21:08

Loving Horatio! Love Robin too.

Hector
Horace
Maurice

hellokitty123 · 07/12/2011 21:28

Quentin - from latin for fifth.

ChocolatEtVin · 07/12/2011 22:13

Hmm maybe Noel as a middle name in that case Hmm
For a girl the only name that is jumping out at the moment is Ivy, which is beautiful.
Keep the suggestions coming please :o

Required? I'd say avoided! Quite apart from anything else, if it's a bit late it'll be mid January.

ThoseClementineShoes · 07/12/2011 22:43

Required? No... But you could slip Nicholas or Joseph in as subtle middle names!

SleeplessinBournville · 07/12/2011 22:44

The three wise men didn't make it in time for Christmas Day either, so Casper, Melchior or Balthasar are safe bets!

ThoseClementineShoes · 07/12/2011 22:48

Or Beth. Short for Bethlehem of course.

ThoseClementineShoes · 07/12/2011 23:05

Rex means king. Female - Regina

Lots of names which mean gift.

Jack (as in frost)

Gabriel/Michael/Raphael
Gabriella/Michaela/Michelle/Raphaella

Carol(e)

Virginia (!)

Could go for Marie, Maria or any of the names from this root instead of Mary

Or just go all out: (!)

Frankincense
Christingle
Herod
Adventis
Winter
Mistletoe
Snow
Frosty

ChocolatEtVin · 07/12/2011 23:10

Somehow I don't think this little one would thank me if I gave them the name Mistletoe Balthasar Christingle :o

PercyFilth · 07/12/2011 23:57

My 5th came along 4 days after Christmas Xmas Grin

We had his name all sorted, then DH decided the middle name was no good and that I had to choose from his shortlist of 3 Hmm

He ended up with the middle name Joseph! The other options were, IMO, vile and I won't repeat them because I don't want to offend anyone who might have chosen them. So he had a Christmassy element in there by default, not sure if anyone noticed, they certainly never commented.

I like Hector and Seamus, Clementine Wink and Guinevere for future DCs if I ever manage a BFP
