Boys names... Theo?

DH and I are decided on the next name if its a girl (just starting to ttc...!): Harriet or Esther, both with Hetty as a nn,

We have a Matilda, who is a Tilda.

Boys are harder. I like Sebastian, DH says no. DH likes William, I am not sure. We both sort of like Arthur, but not so much somehow.... or Xavier, but it seems a bit "poncy" for us....

So how about Theo (ie that as the full name, not Theodore etc)?

I love Sebastian and William and like Xavier, but find Theo faddy...it seems incredibly popular on this website, but not to my taste..personally prefer Edward nn. Teddy..

We clearly have v similar taste in names. Am shocked.

Love all boys and girls choices.
Harriet better as Esther and Tilda doesn't sound as good. Not sure.

Theo is lush. Xavier lush. Arthur lush. I like William and Sebastien.

God, this is not helping is it?!!

WowOoo · 29/11/2011 10:13

Sebastian.

I love all your names - boys and girls! Theo would be my favourite from your boys list and Harriet from your girls list.

Go for Theo as his 'full' name if you prefer it - my mum kept on at me about giving DS his full name on his birth certificate so I did but he's never known as that!

Love the name Theo...I know a little Theo and he's a sweetie too. Not so sure on Theodore as a full name though. It's a little bit chipmunk Grin

Oh god, sorry Stranded...no offence intended.

I love Theo as a NN for Theodore, or a full name. Not keen on Sebastian. Love Xavier and suspect it's becoming more popular and will soon be the new Noah (ie too poncy now but not at all poncy in a year or two). I like Arthur too, and particularly love Art as a NN.

You have lovely taste in names! Love Harriet, would use it in a heartbeat for a girl but we already have a Harry.. Hmm

Suprisingly, as I am not one for nicknames, I prefer Theo to Theodore. William is timeless and wonderful.

I like all your names! I wanted Theodore for DS, but DP kept saying no, then his cousin had a Theodore four months before me, so the argument was solved :)

Arthur was another name we seriously considered for DS ('cept he didn't look like one when he was born), but having checked the 2010 popularity lists, it's taken a massive jump in popularity in recent years, so I think it's likely to become very trendy, and therefore to date quite badly.

Matilda and Sebastian sound lovely for siblings, and do Matilda and Harriet.

ohmygoshandgolly · 29/11/2011 13:41

What a lovely list of names.

I love Theodore / Theo (but then I'm biased as I have one). We went for the full name as it gives more scope for NNs. His middle name is one of the other names on your list.

Arthur would be top of my list if I had another boy.

Lots of baby Theo's locally so look at your stats if it bothers you.

Puts hard hat on- it is umm, well not a social group I align myself with ...
