Yes, no, maybe, only in fantasies?

Was watching a film last night with this in and thought it has a lovely sound.

Erm, NO.

CaptainMartinCrieff · 25/11/2011 16:41

Nope sorry... It sounds like a small airline, or removals company.

Montsti · 25/11/2011 16:42

I think it sounds great but have never heard of it as a name. Personally I wouldn't be brave enough to use it, but that's just me!

Montsti · 25/11/2011 16:42

It does sound like a shopping centre or a cinema or something...sorry!

mummydarlingsausage · 25/11/2011 18:27

What about Arkady?

meditrina · 25/11/2011 18:28

I'd prefer Arkadi

Nope - sorry!

It does sound nice, but look here

There will be similar sounding names in the baby name sites. Aurelian springs to mind - but depending on people's accents that one can sound like 'Our Alien'...

Cinquefoil · 25/11/2011 18:34

Nooooooo! Please don't.

cece · 25/11/2011 18:35

Sorry to busy rolling about on the floor laughing. God no it's awful...

BrigitBigKnickers · 25/11/2011 18:56

Sounds like a Computer game- his future teachers will make Hmm this face when they see his name on a register and think you are a crazy parent to be avoided at all costs!

first1 · 25/11/2011 19:06

Err no. Just no. Sorry!

SoupDragon · 25/11/2011 19:08

No. Just no.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 25/11/2011 19:29

It's a shopping centre. It would be like calling your child 'Westfield' or 'Merry Hill'.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 25/11/2011 19:39

We have an Arcadia shopping centre here, makes me think of that

PoppadumPreach · 25/11/2011 19:41

FFS what is it with people wanting "unique" names - it's not going to make your child any more intelligent/famous/amazing

think of the child, not yourself

NewsClippings · 25/11/2011 19:46

Another no, sorry

Fishpond · 25/11/2011 22:11

Poppadum - wow. Fair enough to say you don't like it, but saying for fucks sake to parents who don't want their child to be 1 of 5 in a class with the same name? Really? Hmm

bethelbeth · 25/11/2011 22:14

Arcadia is the name of Philip Green's clothes shop empire. They'd probably end up nicknamed TopShop or DottyPee.

Think again methinks.x

unreasonableismyname · 25/11/2011 22:17

fishpond there are less extreme ways of making sure your child isn't 1 of 5 in a class with the same name...

Matthew
David
Peter
Robert
Sebastian
Flavian
Antonio
Caspar
Alexander

Fishpond · 25/11/2011 22:19

I also just said I liked the sound of the name as I saw it in a film last night, not that I was 100% set on it. Opinions are perfectly fine and welcome but attacking a personal preference to give a child a unique name is OTT, and FWIW I wouldn't think doing so would give me a more clever or intelligent child. Hmm

Fishpond · 25/11/2011 22:20

Alexander? I know tons of Alexanders.

PoppadumPreach · 25/11/2011 22:41

the fact you were even considering calling a child Arcadian says a lot to me.

but i really don't want to make this personal

it's just that so many people on here want to give their poor unborn child a ridiculous, pompous/pretentious and "original" name.

i'm afraid your name suggestion was just the straw on the camel's back as far as i'm concerned.

rosebery · 25/11/2011 22:41

What about artavia instead. Kinda sounds tthe same (sort of ish!) :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/11/2011 22:43

Oh gosh sorry but this is the worst name suggestion I have ever heard - and there have been plenty of bonkers ones on here. Sorry but is terrible....really, truly dreadful.
