I love Isla - do you not think it rhymes with Maya a little too much? Any similar options which ryhme less? Do you think Emma is too plain?

We have a Maya so I'm marking my place. Not pg (yet), but I always wonder what would go with Maya, which I just love, so I worry that any other name will feel like second best.

FWIW, names I like are: Rebecca, Rose, Eve/Evie (I know the last two are very popular, but I still like them). In fact, I think all the flower names go well: Lily, Daisy, etc. I also love Romilly (and Romola is nice too), Esther (Essie for short) and Isobel (Belle or Bella for short).

Our short list is Emma, Faye, Saskia, Lucia, Sophia, Isla and Sasha

I have 3 DDs. One is Maia, the other two are Ella and Edie (Edie & Maia are twins).

tkband3 · 23/11/2011 14:22

Love Faye from your list!

Ooh, I love lockets' suggestions: Allegra (which is also on my list for the next one) and Saskia in particular are very pretty. Funnily enough our Maya has a cousin called Isla - they are very close and only two months apart in age. Inevitably when they are together they both end up being called 'Myla', so although Isla is a lovely name, I do think the sounds are too similar to be practical.

OP, I think Emma is lovely too, and also would have that on my (imaginary, as yet unconceived daughter) list. I worry about the 'm' sound, though... Maya and Emma - if you say them together there seem to be too many 'm's!

speculationisrife · 23/11/2011 14:33

oops, x-posts: Edie is gorgeous, too, and I also like Ella. Love all the OP's names too. Quite often I don't like any of the names people suggest. How weird that the name Maya has triggered in people's minds all the other names I like.

Squigglywiggly · 23/11/2011 15:45

Randomly I immediately thought eloise!

Offspring · 25/11/2011 23:16

Oops, just saw that Squiggly beat me to Eloise... but it's lovely and worthy of a repeat!

OFrom your shortlist, I like Lucia, but I would prefer Lucy. People tend to have their own way of pronouncing Lucia and it may not be yours.
