Dh and i have very different taste in boys names ie. i like Bruno, he likes Morgan. We have some middle ground with out of favour classics DS1 is Nicholas we also like but can't use Jonathan and Christopher. We have a very common last name so would rather avoid a very popular first name and also would prefer not to have another N name.

I was going to suggest Nathaniel as it is similar to Jonathan but obvs it starts with an N...

How about Jonah?

smable · 23/11/2011 13:00

Alexander is DS1's middle name and Timothy (well Timmy) was DH's childhood dog. We do like Dominic and Nathaniel but i feel Dominic is too like Nicholas although DH doesn't agree and i'm really not sure about another N name or if Nick and Nate sounds a bit twee.I love Edward and Sebastian but DH not keen, he likes William but i think it's too popular. We both love Benedict BUT i know all our friends and family would always call him Ben which is fine as a stand alone name but when put with our last name it's almost like calling him John Smith. We haven't considered Toby,Adam or Finlay will ask DH what he thinks later you're all along the right lines it's just a matter of finding the one. MSBong i forgot to say DH doesn't want anything starting with J. Thanks

Barnaby
Oscar
Thomas

smable · 23/11/2011 13:27

We already have a Thomas in our close family. Barnaby was talked about very early on before we knew we're having a boy i don't remember us actually discounting it so will bring that 1 up later aswell, Oscar is on DH's list i do like it but thought it too popular although as the due dete gets closer i do realise that refusing to think about any name in the top 50/100 is a luxury i may have to let go.
