Any recommendations for great baby name books?

I am beginning to think DH and I are never going to come up with a shortlist of names we both like, that go well with our 'big' surname and that feel right for little one (few months to go yet - LO isn't actually here!).

Does anyone have recommendations for a great book of names? We bought one but it is really rubbish, not that much variety but also a lot of totally unusable names. We couldn't fine one we liked in the whole boys' section, apart from the ones I'd already suggested and DH had already vetoed/thinks aren't right.

Advice massively appreciated!

I think I had the penguin dictionary of names. It's pretty comprehensive, but not very easy to read - it is just a dictionary really.

I had a fab one for French names, but I couldn't find anything like it here :(

There are some very good websites though. Thinkbabynames.com is quite good.

Oh thanks Impy - do you remember the name of the French one? That was one of the routes we're going to go down, can get my DH to get it when he's over there for work!

Will look out the Penguin dictionary too xx

You don't need a book, you need the wisdom and freely shared opinions of your fellow MNs Grin

Hmmm munster I am a tiny bit afraid of venturing forth into the MN fray with my fragile little list, but it will have to be done I think!!

I have one called "Cool names for babies" - I can't remember the publisher. It has different categories of "cool" including European cool which might help if you are thinking French. It is not as comprehensive as some books but it is a bit different and quite refreshing.

It's this one

Actually there's one copy on UK Amazon, but it's more expensive than getting it in France.

Thanks zaft and Impy - I will check those out!

Yes, come on.... who needs a book when you have MN?

I also have Cool Names for Babies - I like the way it is 'categorised' rather than the names just being listed alphabetically.
