here's my shortlist - what do you think of each?

Louis
Arthur
Xavier
Elijah
Joseph
Edward (Teddy)

and would you pn Xavier as in Saviour but with a 'z'?

Thanks!

Love Elijah. And Joseph is great as well.

Jenn1982 · 15/11/2011 13:59

Joseph's my fave out of those.
Xavier, most I know pn ex-avier or Zavier.
I prefer Edison to Edward.
And Congratulations!

3isamagicnumber · 15/11/2011 14:20

Joseph is my fav boys name of all time! Smile
Like Louis too but none of the others.

Montsti · 15/11/2011 14:41

I like them all prob. Xavier then Edward then Joseph followed by the others. I would pronounce it Zavier..

halecromp · 15/11/2011 14:46

I like them all but with Edward I prefer Ted or Eddie to Teddy as a nn x

comedaygoday · 15/11/2011 14:56

Louis: ok, but you may have problems with people not knowing whether to pronounce it "Louie" or "Lewis".
Arthur: like this, but it is getting quite.popular.
Xavier: ok
Elijah: gorgeous name. DS1 is called this, don't know any others IRL.and like it as much now as when first used it.
Joseph: ok, bit common as in widely used.
Edward: ok , quite like

Catsycat · 15/11/2011 15:27

Really like Xavier, and yes, would pn to rhyme with saviour. The others I don't like very much (sorry!), there are loads of Louis at DDs nursery, and the others I just feel are rather "old man" names. But then, that's my personal opinion, and I hope you'll choose whatever you feel suits your DC best, not what some disembodied strangeer on MN likes!!!! Grin

poppydaisy · 15/11/2011 16:33

I'd pronounce Xavier the french way, Ksav-ee-ay. I like it but you might get people mispronouncing it, as you would with Louis (I know one who gets called Lou-is so would proncoune it that way).

I think Elijah is the nicest - classic name that isn't trendy or overused.

Towndon · 15/11/2011 18:15

Louis - don't like
Arthur - too "old man"
Xavier - like
Elijah - like
Joseph - like
Edward (Teddy) - like Edward, but Teddy is a toy bear

and would you pn Xavier as in Saviour but with a 'z'?

Towndon · 15/11/2011 18:15

I would pronounce it ZAV-ee-er.

CurwySwide · 15/11/2011 18:29

Louis - love this as long as it is pronounced Louee
Arthur - gorgeous
Xavier - not keen
Elijah - ok
Joseph - nice but full
Edward (Teddy) - love Teddy, don't like Edward

CurwySwide · 15/11/2011 18:29

Dull not full, sorry!

bubblebubblebubblepop · 15/11/2011 18:34

Love Joseph. Also Edward, but I don't like Teddy.
