so does this mean that James is out for me with my currently growing DC2? I have had people saying he may not even be called James and had it shortened to Jamie, that some kids are called Jamie, full stop. i think it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable but LOVE the name James!

If you love the name I don't see why it would be a problem for your DS to be named after his uncle.

theidsalright · 14/11/2011 21:15

we don't have contact, just found out about him and the "uncle" is 6years old. I'm thinking about how weird it might be for my Mum (said child conceived when my Mum and Dad were together).

I think it might prove too upsetting to your mum (especially if your parents are still together) and therefore I'd rule James, Jamie, Jimmy etc out.

Hulababy · 14/11/2011 21:22

I think you probably need to speak to your mum first tbh. It might be a bit too close to home for her and a constant reminder.

I agree with the Captain

theidsalright · 14/11/2011 21:28

yep captain that's what I thought.

Infact, on reflection I think it would be too rough to even mention to Mum, so I think that says everything.
thanks!

(Boys name finding is soooooo hard!)

I would avoid even mentioning it to your mum - she probably wants to avoid the whole topic and the name James might bring back unfortunate memories.

Hope you find another name you love as much (or even more!).

lollystix · 14/11/2011 22:17

Too weird - not fair on your mum and you don't want your wee not to be tarred with any negativity

lollystix · 14/11/2011 22:18

Wee boy -sorry - not your urine Blush

Kayano · 14/11/2011 22:30

Call it Jensen Grin

I'm determined to
Mention this on every thread now
I'm having a girl lol!

Agree - it's not fair on your mum. I hope you find another name you love!

Kayano, but then he would become not Jamie but Jenny Grin....

twolittlemonkeys · 15/11/2011 10:36

Would you consider Jacob? James is actually derived from Jacob but not similar enough for most people to associate the two names.... I would definitely avoid James so as not to upset your mum.
