It's a girl :)

Still between the two names but swaying towards Iris now need some middle name ideas

So far I like Iris Elizabeth.

Congratulations on having pink. Girls are great!(I have 3).

Beatrix/Beatrice is firmly on our list for a potential #4 as a first or middle name.

I do prefer Beatrix/Beatrice but I like your suggestion of Iris Elizabeth. Not so keen on Elizabeth as a mn with Beatrix/Beatrice for some reason.

Some suggestions:

Beatrice Hazel
Beatrice Margot
Beatrice Victoria
Beatrix Marguerite/Margarita
Beatrix Evangeline
Beatrix Katherine

largeginandtonic · 09/11/2011 11:42

Beatrix Aphra
Beatrix Dorothy
Iris Dorothy
Iris Violette

Lovely names btw Smile

My dd is Beatrice Rosalinde. Rosalinde is my cousin's name, also my sister is Rose and DH's mum in Linda, so it covered off a few family members!

CurwySwide · 09/11/2011 13:28

Iris Elizabeth is lovely.

How about Iris Catherine?

Towndon · 09/11/2011 18:52

Beatrice Amelia
Beatrice Jennifer

Iris Estella
Iris Coralie

Lots of nice suggestions Beatrice Amelia sounds really nice.

Really would help if I could decide between Beatrice and Iris. Iris is just winning atm partly because this is our fourth dc and dhthat never been keen on Iris until now. I've always liked it and dh has decided he really does to. This is my last chance to use it.

Beatrice is gorgeous though but maybe slightly more popular than Iris?

They're both outside the top 100. In 2010 Beatrice was the 116th most popular girls' name, and Iris was the 167th.

Personally I prefer Beatrice, it's more classic IMHO.

cupofteaplease · 09/11/2011 19:41

My dd3 is Beatrice Primrose. She is lovely, so I am biased about her name. Smile

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 10/11/2011 07:38

I LOVE both names - Beatrice is more popular, but I honestly adore both names and gutted I can't use either. Why not wait til you meet her to decide between the two names?

Beatrice Emily
Beatrice Clare
Beatrice Grace

Iris Romilly
Iris Emmeline
Iris Juliet

so jealous I can't have Iris or Beatrice!!

threecurrantbuns · 10/11/2011 08:07

Dh isn't keen on Beatrice so less she really doesn't look like an Iris think that is what it is more likely to be.

Love your suggestions girlwith but that maybe because we have already used the names Grace and Emily within our other girls names :)

Ps think there is always a name you would love to use for the sex you didn't have I had one in mind if this dc had been a boy and its a shame ill never use it.

Feels wierd referring to dc as she this is our fourth and we have never found out before

we know we're having a girl too but a close friend has a Beatrice and DH doesn't like Iris (I have done my best to wear him down)

great minds and all that on the middle names! I reckon something 1-2 syllables for Beatrice, longer for Iris, not sure why....

threecurrantbuns · 10/11/2011 09:27

I agree we also have a friend with a Beatrix i prefer Beatrice now but its still very similar so seems even more reason to go for Iris plus I've liked it the first three times so this is my last chance :)

My 10 year old dd is Iris Matilda.
Other possible middle names for her would have been
Emmeline, Penelope, Catherine, Jemima, Helena or Clara

I like
Beatrice Joan/Jean/Jane
Beatrice Louise
Beatrice Gwendolen
Beatrice Josephine
Beatrice Rose
Beatrice Violet

Have you got any family names you could use?
