oh yes, totally poncey. All the Miles's I know are V posh, but thats part of it's charm IMO

lottiegb · 02/11/2011 15:13

Nice but personally wouldn't as read Henry James' 'The Turn of the Screw' at an impressionable age (with spooky, possibly possessed children, Miles and Flora). That's not a reference that's going to bother many people though.

Bit "rah" but I like it and it makes me think of This Life (that's a good thing!).

tammytoby · 02/11/2011 15:51

Plural of Mile to my ears. There are far nicer names imo. Don't see what is 'rah' or 'poncy' about it though Hmm?

CarrieInAnotherBabi · 02/11/2011 15:55

thanks for your thoughts, i like it but don't love it, but it's dh's fav name....

proudfoot · 02/11/2011 23:34

Fab name. I have known a few and never heard jokes and jibes about distance - don't think it would be a major issue, surely?

IHeartKingThistle · 02/11/2011 23:48

I've taught 3 at secondary and based on that extensive research I would say that all boys called Miles or Myles are lovely and polite.

There's a headstone for a chap called Miles beside the road. It says he was 85 and was from London.

LAbaby · 03/11/2011 05:03

My son's Dexter Miles and I wouldn't have minded it as a first name.
