AHHH - we thought that naming 1 would be hard but now it is getting closer and closer to b-day it is getting really really hard. So can we please have some help in coming up with names for our triplets.

We need names for 3 boys and 3 girls as we don't know sex (2 id, 1 not)

I quiet like the idea of their names having something in common. (I'm a twin and me a Dtb have the same mn just male and female versions which we always liked).
But still want all their mn(s?) to be welsh if fn isn't (as I am but DH isn't and we don't live anywhere near Wales - at all, actually we live in the US (DP is American).

So our rough shortlist:

Sara
Mary (family name)
Cassie
Erica
Callie
Catriona (family name)
Nell
Rae
Veronica
Lena
Mina
Larissa
Carmel
Alana

James
Ross
Jude
Andrew
Elmo
Logan
Iestyn
Iolo (family name)
Zaine
Leo
Lucas
Fin
Riley

Help!!! and thanks :)

congratulations but I can't help with the naming bit as I struggled naming twins!!!!! My 4 all have popular names and twin 2 threw us by being a boy then not suiting the name we had chosen Wink

mybootsaremuddy · 30/10/2011 20:15

Ok, here are my thoughts on your list ...

Sara - much prefer (in fact, love, Sarah)
Mary (family name) - I love Mary. It's so pretty. I could never use it because of my accent, pfft.
Cassie - love this.
Erica - don't like.
Callie - hmm, not keen. Definitely would use with Cassie.
Catriona (family name) - I like this.
Nell - I like this but prefer Helena
Rae - not keen.
Veronica - horrid.
Lena - same as for Nell, I would use Helena and then choose between the nn's
Mina - love this.
Larissa - not keen
Carmel - this is a cross between camel and caramel. Don't like.
Alana - don't like.

My favourites are
Cassie, Helena (Nell or Lena), Sarah and Mary

James - nice.
Ross - dislike for no reason that I can put my finger on.
Jude - ok.
Andrew - same as Ross.
Elmo - no.
Logan - no.
Iestyn - how do you pn this?
Iolo (family name) - how do you pn this?
Zaine - ok.
Leo - nice.
Lucas - ok.
Fin - nice.
Riley - ok.

I don't love any of your boys names. I like James and Fin the best.

I like these:

Sara
Mary
Cassie
Nell
Larissa
Alana

James
Jude
Andrew
Leo

jasonlovesme · 31/10/2011 20:36

Mary (family name) - you could always have it Mari so the welsh version
Cassie
Erica
Callie
Nell
Rae - as mn
Mina
Larissa
Alana

Jude
Andrew
Elmo - as a mn it would be funky I think
Iestyn
Iolo (family name)
Zaine
Riley

You want something connecting their names so you could have the same last 2 initials (mn and last name). So like mn beginning with R - Rae, Rhys, Rhiannon etc

pranma · 01/11/2011 15:45

Seren is a lovely Welsh name for a girl
Fin[n] is more Irish I think
Bryn?
Mary is beautiful and much underused these days
errrr
Seren Sophia Sadie Sukey Shona
not sure of boys though-there is a boy in the Susan Cooper books called Bran-with a long aaa sound-I like that.

msfallaway · 01/11/2011 19:40

Sara - like
Mary (family name) - like agree with jason about mari
Cassie - really like
Erica - nope
Callie - really like
Catriona (family name) - nope
Nell - not as a full name
Rae - mn only
Veronica - nope
Lena - yes
Mina - really like
Larissa - like
Carmel - if your part irish then yes otherwise maybe to much out of box
Alana - really like

James - like
Ross - nope
Jude - like
Andrew - love Drew as a nn
Elmo - love as a mn
Logan - gilmore so it is alright
Iestyn - it is alright
Iolo (family name) - really like
Zaine - love
Leo - nope
Lucas - nope
Fin - yes
