Boy's names to go with Matilda and Henrietta

Ok, me and the DW are completely failing to come up with a boy's name that will go well with our daughters Henrietta and Matilda.
Who's got any ideas?
So far I like Wilbur (but accept that this is a really a better name for a pig/dog)
And she likes Caspar, which I'm prepared to go along with but DW reckons I'm not sufficiently committed to.
Our 'in case of emergency' name is Edward but after the naming debacle with DW2 (started as Sophia and soon to be deed polled to Henrietta, we're going to look like idiots if we go for a compromise name now and change it later.
Our longlist at the moment is:
WILLIAM
NATHAN
WILBUR
JOSHUA
ARTHUR
EDWARD
GABRIEL
ALBERT
RALPH
GEORGE
SAMUEL
CASPER
But none of those give us the bolt from the blue that Matilda did and Henrietta did (after a year!).
We're both feeling pretty depressed having been discussing this for 9 months!
HELP ME!!!!!

I think that Gabriel and George are lovely

Maybe wait until your DS arrives then You can see what he "looks" like?

rockinastocking · 29/10/2011 11:45

I thought 'Edward' before I even opened the thread.

Perfect.

Tillyscoutsmum · 29/10/2011 11:47

Gilbert ?

Barnaby ?
Rufus ?

I have a Matilda and a Fergus.

Of your list I like Gabriel, Casper and Wilbur the best.

scarevola · 29/10/2011 11:47

I'd go for a similarly strong Royal (ideally Plantagenet) name. So from your list, I'd go for Ralph or William. I think George, Arthur, Edward and Albert would also work.

CandiceMariePratt · 29/10/2011 11:51

Wilbur, Gilbert or Ralph

Psammead · 29/10/2011 12:41

Aleric
Eric
Alfric

They are all really nice names except Casper, Gabriel and Ralph.

Edward is very nice, also like Edmund.

OP I love yr DDs' names Grin

From your list I am especially liking William (v popular tho), Arthur, Joshua is nice (v v popular tho), Edward, Albert (love it, no-go with our surname, loving Bertie) and George.

Do you mind popular?

Other options might be Frederick, Wilfred, Angus, Fraser (gone a bit Scottish there!), Edwin, Stanley (another fave of mine) or Oscar.

herecomesthsun · 29/10/2011 17:05

I also thought "Edward" on seeing the title.

Fo0ffyShmooffer · 29/10/2011 17:12

Soon as I saw the title Jasper popped into my head. Also love Rufus.

Fo0ffyShmooffer · 29/10/2011 17:14

Also Tobias.

From your list I think Edward and Arthur

susiedaisy · 29/10/2011 17:16

Samuel is lovely and would of been my choice if I'd had anymore children, a boy of courseSmile

CurwySwide · 29/10/2011 18:16

I love George and Arthur. Gabriel is also nice. Rufus is gorgeous.

LottieBronte · 29/10/2011 18:24

I think Theodore works particularly well with Matilda and Henrietta. You can use Teddy or Ted as a nn (as with Edward) or maybe Theo.

Matilda, Henrietta and Theodore are all classic but with a bit of spark iykwim?

I also like Rupert with the sibset but I think it's quite marmite - you either love or hate it. Barnaby is also a good suggestion.

fit2drop · 29/10/2011 18:40

Ralph and Rufus are really nice

Bartholamew maybe

But I think Bertie goes well with Henrietta and Matilda

mrsshears · 29/10/2011 18:55

I think rupert goes really nicely.

WILLIAM -- goes very well with Matilda and Henrietta
NATHAN -- a bit odd man out with the other names - doesn't really fit
WILBUR -- the pig in Charlotte's Web
JOSHUA -- always reminds me of the rather wet boyfriend of Rachel in 'Friends'; doesn't really fit with the other names
ARTHUR -- too old mannish
EDWARD -- very nice
GABRIEL -- nice
ALBERT -- gorgeous; nice Victorian vibe to the three names together. Bertie is a sweet nn for a little brother of two older sisters, imo.
RALPH -- I associate this name with barfing
GEORGE -- very nice with Matilda and Henrietta; good 18th century/'Georgian' feel to all three names
SAMUEL -- Very nice with Matilda and Henrietta; again that good 18th century vibe but a non-conformist one as opposed to the CofE vibe of Matilda, Henrietta and George
CASPER -- the friendly ghost

So...
Albert, George and Samuel are my favourites,
with William, Edward and Gabriel coming in second.

ShesAStar · 30/10/2011 19:03

I think either Arthur or Samuel go best with Matilda and Henrietta.

Tigerbomb · 30/10/2011 19:11

Thomas or Alfred?

Amongst the names you mention I like Albert the best
