I really like the name Marlie or Marlee - however, first reaction from any one I say this to is - isn't that dog's name?

It is a bit, isn't it? Confused

It doesn't sound that canine to me, but how about Marlene with Marlie as a NN?

BeeBread · 28/10/2011 14:09

How about Marnie?

Hitchcock sounds like a better source of inspiration!

QueenVictoria42 · 28/10/2011 14:13

It is a bit. There's that film Marley & Me, in which Marley is the family dog. I do also know a dog called Marlie.

Maybe Marnie as Beebread suggests or Malia - like Barack Obama's daughter?

meditrina · 28/10/2011 14:23

Yes, I'd expect the holder to have four legs.

But it might be a nn for Marlowe if you're having a boy or Marlene if a girl.

Dps work colleague had a baby last weekend and he has called him Marley.

mollschambers · 28/10/2011 14:27

I know one. Lovely baby. Not so keen on the name.

What about Maimie?

Psammead · 28/10/2011 14:29

I think Bob Marley and Jacob Marley.

I am not keen on it as a first name. But it's not horrid.

thefirstMrsDeVeerie · 28/10/2011 14:35

I dont like the spellings you have chosen.

I prefer Marley and I am a bit Hmm that one crappy rom com about a dog has now made the name a 'dog name' .

I have a Marley. Its my DS4's second name and we often combine his first and second (I habit of longing names rather than shortening then Grin)

noddyholder · 28/10/2011 14:42

I had no idea there was a film I always think Bob or ghost! Both fab imo. MN is always so strange when it comes to names compared to RL My ds name regularly gets a slating on here when most rl friends and family like it!

Beegey · 28/10/2011 18:54

I like it. I like Marlowe better.

Marnie is nice.

gitinora · 30/10/2011 21:53

I know a girl named marley aged 11 and my next door neighbours dog is called marley too

SaffronCake · 31/10/2011 14:13

It is a teeny bit furry to me if I'm honest.

HauntedHengshanRoad · 31/10/2011 16:27

Marlee? Awful. Just awful.

lisianthus · 31/10/2011 16:28

Makes me think of the actress Marlee Matlin. She was really good.

Freebird87 · 23/02/2012 13:59

My little girl is Marlie Isla,Marlie means; girl from the meadow, not dog from the kennel!!! I know a crazy lady who has dogs called Alice,Emily and George, does this now mean these names are dog names???
