I've been going back and forth for well about 12 months now and I'm still non the wiser. DP is Indian, I am English. I love the name Zian/Zyian but my good friend has named her DS this so it's a no go. Please please give me some unusual names. If I can't think of one by tomorrow he will be named Lucas, nice but too plain but it's the only one we can semi agree on.

Arun or Kiran?

triskaidekaphile · 20/10/2011 01:11

Lucas is nice but I would definitely go for an Indian name as I think there are some lovely ones.

Anjor
Harish
Jai
Jatan
Kamran

?

cakeismysaviour · 20/10/2011 01:20

Would Zev be too similar......?

pickmeupandthrowmedown · 20/10/2011 01:21

Zaid
Jai
Kiran
Hari
Arjun
Dilip

Lucas is lovely (I may be biased though) but I would go for something indian.

madwomanintheattic · 20/10/2011 01:28

just asked the dc's for unusual but cool boy's names in their schools:

dd1 - voole (pronounced 'vole' apparently)
ds1 - trent Hmm
dd2 - ocean, odin, forest, blue

sorry, not much help here!

This is an amazing resource: www.indianhindunames.com/index.html.

Also: www.babynames.org.uk/indian-boy-baby-names.htm.

Or: www.ourbabynames.co.uk/indianboy.php

No Z names though.

Lucien?

wineandcheese · 20/10/2011 08:45

Is DP Hindu / Sikh / other?

JiltedJohnsGhoulie · 20/10/2011 10:06

How about Rohan which is Irish and Sanskrit? Lovely name too.

rachel1970 · 20/10/2011 11:36

Please choose an Indian name to reflect your dh's heritage. Lucas is indeed plain, a little dull and quite widely used already.

I like Rohan, Zaid and Arun from the suggestions above.

JiltedJohnsGhoulie · 20/10/2011 12:03

Have you chosen yet Bella?

Fixture · 20/10/2011 12:43

Tarun
Adil
Akmal
Arjit
Chandrak
Darshan
Farid
Himadri
Inesh
Jashan
Kumar
Natesh
Rasul
Sahil
Vikesh

On the way to the office as I type! Thank you all SO much for got suggestions, we've knocked Lucas off, too dull and have come up with Ziya.... What do you all think?! It's not exactly Indian but we both love it.

Ace!

JiltedJohnsGhoulie · 20/10/2011 15:00

Glad you've binned Lucas. Why did you decide to go with an arabic name though bella?

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 20/10/2011 15:01

Ziya is lovely!

Xiaoxiong · 20/10/2011 15:03

I know two half Indian half British boys - one called Ranjan and the other called Rohan as suggested by posters above.

Ziya is a girls' name to me - not only have I met a girl named Zia but it sounds a lot like Mia.

tammytoby · 20/10/2011 15:19

Ziya is great - cool and not overused. Glad you binned Lucas.
