I love both, but I slightly prefer Orla.

CurwySwide · 12/10/2011 12:15

I think both are lovely, but prefer Orla - only just though!

oohlaalaa · 12/10/2011 12:21

Orla

fredandginger · 12/10/2011 13:24

Flora is a fab name
Isla is also fab (although I prefer Islay)
Orla is ok.

Ephiny · 12/10/2011 13:30

Ooh - actually I think Isla is even better. Both are lovely though, and both much better than Flora IMO!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 12/10/2011 13:59

Prefer Flora. Don't know any Flora's but do know 2 Orla's. They are both in different parts of England and both have Irish mothers. Think out of the Irish names it's one of the ones that will present her with least problems.

Love Orla, but like it spelled Orlaith.

Flora, again, the marg. Sorry, I really want to like it, because I like Florence, but sadly, no. :)

razzdazz · 12/10/2011 16:32

How funny, Flora is on the top of my list at the moment but I keep getting margarine thrown at me too!! That part I (and hopefully my child) can live with. It was when my friend told me of a girl she went to school with called Flora that they used to sing a song to about being easy to spread Blush that has given me doubts. Still not ruled it out though.

washngo · 12/10/2011 16:47

Flora and orla are both nicer than isla.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 12/10/2011 18:32

Yes, exactly what I was alluding to with my 'unkind' comment - easy to spread...!

Isla is verrrry popular, but if that doesn't bother you...

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 12/10/2011 18:35

Orla, defintely, it's lovely. Then Isla. Not keen on Flora.

susiedaisy · 12/10/2011 18:39

My ex had a brother who went out with someone they nick named flora cause she spread easy !! Not nice and it's always stuck in my mind.

Fixture · 12/10/2011 19:38

Isla is a bit better than Orla. How about Iona?

tilder · 12/10/2011 20:03

I love the name Flora, but am put off by the margarine link and a Jilly Cooper character who was referred to as inter flora in not a very complimentary way.

Not keen on Orla - my memories are from a (I think) Big Brother contestant with this name nick named 'orluv her clothes off'. Sorry. Probably not very helpful!

AgathaPinchBottom · 12/10/2011 20:18

Love flora.

DigOfTheStump · 12/10/2011 20:23

LOVE LOVE LOVE Orla

pilates · 12/10/2011 20:33

Love Orla.

Back in the 80's Flora was a name used for a "loose" girl.

For that reason I couldn't use it.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/10/2011 21:56

Orla is top ten in Scotland and Ireland. Also climbed very fast in England last year.
Love Flora from the Jilly Cooper books. Orla has to be pronounced properly. Awla is awful.
