Ummmm, I dont think any are upmarket or timeless. Sorry

ChippingIn · 10/10/2011 00:10

I don't think either one is upmarket or timeless. If I was going to use that name I'd spell it Leila.

MelinaM · 10/10/2011 00:14

They're not 'upmarket', but Leila (Lee-la) is more timeless I'd say but still a tad trendy.

Agree it isn't upmarket (strange way of chosing a name) or timeless.

PigletJohn · 10/10/2011 00:35

Leila was in Doctor Who. Does that make it upmarket?

I depends what you mean by upmarket? If you mean try hardobviously posh (e.g. Felicity, Arabella, Portia, Octavia) then, no it's not that sort of name - but it's not downmarket either. It's a nice feminine name, good alternative to the more popular Lola or Lily. I would google spellings and go with the one with more traditional roots/meaning.

Are you naming a child or a car?

What is this obsession with 'labelling' names according to class - it is such a weird British obsession.

Choose a name YOU love, that works with your surname and that ideally isn't already used by lots of others (as the purpose of a name is to identify a person).

shoobidoo · 10/10/2011 11:21

I don't like either, sorry.

I think Leila is the most classic spelling, would pronounce it 'Lay-la'.

Not sure what you mean by 'upmarket', that seems an odd expression to use about a child's name Hmm.
