But presumably he chose to call himself Johnny. It's the sort of name that a person can decide they want to be called, but shouldn't be imposed on anyone.

Jonathan as full name is nice.

It's my brother's name infact, but his shortened name is Jon. The only person ever allowed to call him Jonny is my 9y DD, his niece. Noone else is allowed at all and haven't been allowed to since he was quite young!
