Inspire me with boys names...

This is a bit premature as only just starting to TTC for number 2 (we have a DD - Matilda)....!

DH and I already know what we'd call another girl - Harriet, nn Hetty (I know its usually Hatty, but we like Hetty!). There are a few other girls' names we both like too, although Harriet is the fave (we also like Greta, Anna, Eleanor and Valentina).

I am totally uninspired by boys' names though... can you help!?

I like traditional-ish names, but don't want anything too plain and/or commonly used (like James, Benjamin, Thomas). I like Harry and Max, but they have I think become a bit common (both senses of the word!). I am up for more out-there suggestions too, along the lines of Felix (I love this, DD was going to be one if she had been a girl, but best friend has just had one!)

So far, I can just about muster up:

Arthur (nn Art - this is probably my fave)
Sebastian (I don't love the Sebastian Flyte connotation though - I ADORE the book but not his character)
Alexander (commonly used I know, but I still like it!)
Hugo (a bit bleh though....)
Henry (a bit boring though)
Bryn (acceptable with no Welsh links, d'ya think?)

Any ideas?

Oh, and I don't really like Old Testament names... not sure why, I just don't!

Patrick
Oscar
Heath
Joseph

Sorry, there are some New Testament names in there, I know.

Psammead · 06/10/2011 13:46

Oh. Old Testament, sorry. None of them, I think!

Jojay · 06/10/2011 13:48

My boys are Jasper, Edward and Dominic.

Meteorite · 06/10/2011 13:50

Sebastian, Alexander and Henry are all nice :)

legallyblond · 06/10/2011 14:05

Thanks!

Liking Patrick (is nn Paddy acceptable? - I like!) and Edward (but there is one in our family already....).

Dominic is out as its my sister's ex-husband's name!

I ADORE Jasper (and to a lesser extent Oscar - feel its a bit overused), but really doesn't work with our surname....

Joseph = Old T Wink

I love all your names - we are expecting DC2 and our top boys names atm are Sebastian and Rory (or Ruari).

How about Laurence (nn Larry/Laurie) or Benedict?

Also love your girls names too! DD is one of them.
