I love the name Eloise but don't like Ellie. Do any of you have an Eloise and if so what does it get shortened to?

I know two girls called Eloise, one is shortened to Elsie, the other to Weezy.

I have an Eloise, she's 5.

As a baby and occaisionally now we call her Weezy, or even Weezy Woo.
Mostly it gets lengthened to Eloisey.

She is very clear when telling people not to shorten her name.

I know a very cute little Eloise who gets called Lulu Smile

I know an Eloise who gets Ella, but not Ellie.

i have a friend Eloise who can be Eloise, Lou, Elle, or Ellie. Lovely girl, lovely name :)

I love the name Eloise, from the beginning you'll just have to put a stop to people changing it.

We had a problem with our son's footie coach calling him Deccy instead of Declan, and then all the other footballers were calling him Deccy, and then all their parents knew him as Deccy...so thats all we could hear on the football pitch! I had a word with the coach and he realised so put a stop to it. I wasn't particulary bothered but Declan didn't like it.

We have an Eloise and her nickname is Boris or Squeezy.

The only person who shortens her name is my grandmother and we only see her a handful of times a year.

My DD is Eloise, but she is not called Ellie. One group of friends call her Ella, but 90% of the time she is Eloise - at her own choosing.

Over the past, I have taught four girls called Eloise. One chose to shorten her name to Ellie, but the others were called Eloise.

Honeydragon · 27/09/2011 20:19

El, Lulu, & Wheezy but only MiL may call me Ellie, everyone else gets the death stare.

Up until I was an adult most people called me by my full name, as a older teen adult I became El.

lurkinginthebackground · 27/09/2011 23:38

I wouldn't shorten it but I love Eloise and don't really care for Ellie so maybe I am biased.

Hope88 · 28/09/2011 15:29

I don't think it has to be shortened to Ellie. I am considering Eloise if I have a girl. And I would prefer Elle as a nn or others like Loly etc.

ZuleikaJambiere · 28/09/2011 19:37

We have an Eloise too, and I worried about the Ellie shortening too. We intended to shorten it to Lou, but that hasn't stuck and so far she's been called Weezy (or Weezy Woo) as a baby, and now more often Eloisey. I don't know what will happen once she gets to school, but I guess that's up to her. It's a beautiful name, in my biased opinion

HoldTouchEngage · 29/09/2011 21:14

I love Eloise, cannot abide Ellie (sorry)

Ha ha i love Weezy Woo - i have a Gabriel and he's often been known as Gabri Woo! Wink

DamselWithADulcimer · 29/09/2011 21:15

I know two Eloises, and they are both Ellie (which I don't like).
