What do you think of Carladee as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

car lady

carladee · 24/09/2011 15:23

I'm 28 and have never known any one with the same name!! Should I use it as a middle name for my baby?

definitely. You definitely should keep the dream alive :)

ginmakesitallok · 24/09/2011 15:24

Confused it's listed there because you put it there?? It's not a nice name

Voidka · 24/09/2011 15:26

You have never met anyone with the same?
I am surprised!

daenerysstormborn · 24/09/2011 15:26

as a child's name? it's bloody awful

NormaStanleyFletcher · 24/09/2011 15:29

Carladee is a country singer

carladee · 24/09/2011 15:30

Yes I put it there just wanted to see wot people think about it!!
Think my mum was on some very strong drugs bless her when she had me!

I've never come across this name in RL, and I don't take to it. I read it as "car lady" as well (and IMHO, Carmen would be better).

It might be better as Carla-Dee, if s the pronunciation you want.

plumviolet · 24/09/2011 15:31

Awful. Sorry.

Is it actually your real name?
I think first, car lady, next, deep South redneck country singer.
I don't think I'd ever consider using it for a child. Carla-Dee would be better - at least you have the option to drop the Dee bit. Carla is a perfectly nice name by itself. :)

carladee · 24/09/2011 15:43

I know it's so wrong but thats my name!

Carladee Carlada Carlawohoho was the first thing that came to mind.

The second thing that came to mind was 'hell no"

IndieNile · 24/09/2011 15:48

And I suppose her sister would be Bagladee?

BehindLockNumberNine · 24/09/2011 15:49

Aw, sorry, it is YOUR name.

Ahem. Ok.

Carla is nice...

Thumbwitch · 24/09/2011 15:51

Got it! I knew it was reminding me of something else - it's the Beatles song, Ob-la-dee, ob-la-dah. Sorry.

Your mum must have been on some good dope... Grin

Do you just call yourself Carla?

And since there really can't be many Carladees in the country, I would like to respectfully suggest you change your MN name, as it is going to out you completely in RL. :)

Thumbwitch · 24/09/2011 15:53

Do you not have a middle name yourself? I like the tradition of using a family name for your DC, and if I ever have a girlbaby will give her my middle name for her middle name as well (it goes back generations).

But I'm not sure I could stomach inflicting Carladee on my child even if it is a family name - how has it affected you in your life?

hiccymapops · 24/09/2011 15:54

It reminded me of that song too (but I thought it was black laceBlush)

hiccymapops · 24/09/2011 15:54
Grin
Thumbwitch · 24/09/2011 15:56

Black Lace "covered" it, hiccy, if you can call it that! but it's a Beatles' original. :)

carladee · 24/09/2011 16:00

Ok I'll save my baby from the humiliation I went though!!

hiccymapops · 24/09/2011 16:04

Thank you Smile it was on a party album I had when I was about 8, many many years ago (the olden days, yesteryear, days of yore etc Grin)

SoupDragon · 24/09/2011 16:04

Nothing wrong with Carla.
Nothing wrong with Dee.
Nothing wrong with Carla Dee.
Carladee though? Your mother must have been on the same drugs as mine when she gave me a rhyming name. You could probably get away with it as a middle name given it is yours and has meaning.
