is karma an evil name to give to a boy?

baby's daddy came up with the name karma as it's made up of the start of his name and the end of mind ( sweet i think )we also decided this woiuld be o.k for a boy and also a girl. however when i told my mum this, she didn't seem keen and pointed out that a boy with this name would get picked on in school! now i don't know weather to look for another name or not. any thought on this? all opinions welcome.xx

Gawd, just call him Karma and be done with it. If your other kids are named after TV show characters [catsbum mouth emoticon] what difference will it make?

I went to school with a female Karma and she didn't come in for any flak, although it was a bit touch and go for a few years there when Culture Club were big. [/dates self] I don't know how she got on since leaving school, but she was very much a type to carry it off well so she's probably been fine.

Why evil ? It means Lucky in Indian and Destiny I’m most other cultures . It’s our surname and I am always being complimented on it . The comment about not getting a job is rubbish ! My brothers use Karma as a first name because it has opened up so many opportunities for them . They’ve ended up getting interviews because the interview person said they were keen to meet the man behind the name . My baby will be called Karma as a first name because he will have his dads surname . One of my brothers now owns his own call centre and he’s a property developer the other a Christian minister and the third owns a landscaping business .

Bad Karma or good Karma; that’s all I see.

Awful, for either gender but especially bad for a boy.

He'll be bullied in school and won't be taken seriously as an adult. He'll probably change his name when he's old enough. Please don't do this to your child, pick a real name that belongs to him and isn't made up of his parents names.

Well my brothers were never bullied at school . Very popular boys and everyone loved the Karma boys . Maybe if your a geek type of man or quite a weak personality 🤓 called Karma you would be bullied but we’ve only ever had compliments . I know it’s an old thread but I guess it’s still relevant to me as I wanna call my baby Karma when he’s born provided he’s not a pretty boy and he looks like a Karma

I know of a little boy about 12 years old called Karma. Last name is Card!! Just why!!??

It's not horrendous - but just not keen on what it actually means - if it were me I'm not sure I'd want it associated with my kid.
Also I associate people making up a name by combining their names with what people
call theirs houses!! Sorry to be mean...
