When you see/hear Marley are you more inclined to think boy/girl?
My partner says girl, I say boy.
It's been described as male, female and unisex on various websites and is currently more popular as a girls name. Not sure if it's just the Bob Marley reference that makes me think boy? I don't want this thread to turn into an argument about who's right or wrong, or how it's used in other countries, origin etc. Just opinions on how it sounds please.
Thanx :) :) :)

Dog. Don't see it as either gender really.

2wwmadness Are all 4 boys?

When I started this thread I thought boy but the more people have agreed the more I've started to think girl!!! Ever since I saw the Marlene connection.

3 boys on girl. One lad is 6 little girl 3 the other two are babies. If im honest. The little girl suits it more. It just suits her. Can't explain it really

Girl... is the name of Will Smith's daughter in "I am Legend".

Like it.

At dd's nursery, a little girl who is mixed race was called Marley. Beautiful child with a blond afro. She suited it totally. Not sure if it would suit a fair skinned, freckly child though

I think girl, as a relative's daughter is called Marley, named after the country/place I think..

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/09/2011 21:57

Don't see it as either. It says surname to me.

Boy. Fwiw, I wouldn't use it personally, but I do really like it.

My friend (a girl!) is Mahli, think her mum made up the spelling!

birdofthenorth · 20/09/2011 15:30

I think boy. You could always have it as a shortening of the (definitely masculine) Marlon

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 20/09/2011 15:36

I would think dog first tbh, then boy

GrimmaTheNome · 20/09/2011 15:39

I think Scrooges partner Jacob Marley, dog, Bob
