I like the name Bethany. Wilde is a bit "out there" for me. Personally I'd choose a name you and the child's father both like and not worry too much about "culture".

I like Bethany and I like Winston but I would fear that Wilde would become a self-fulfilling prophecy!

BehindLockNumberNine · 14/09/2011 20:39

I would not worry about culture, and go with names you like.

Love Bethany, not sure at all about Wilde.

BehindLockNumberNine · 14/09/2011 20:40

Meant to add, Winston is not bad but Monique is imo dreadful. (am Dutch, Monique was a popular name there whilst I was growing up and it was a bit of a mouthful and had 'wannabe posh' connotations...)

Like others, Bethany is lovely Wilde I am not so keen on.

MissWilde · 14/09/2011 21:35

Wilde is my surname so would definitely not think of it as a first name!

SoupDragon · 14/09/2011 21:38

Wilde is utterly dreadful.

LetThereBeRock · 14/09/2011 21:48

What Soupdragon said.

Bethany is nice though.

Meteorite · 14/09/2011 22:09

Bethany is very nice.

Not keen on Wilde. How about William?

stressheaderic · 15/09/2011 20:01

Glad to read this. I have a Bethany and it has been much mocked on here before. Not keen on Wilde, sorry. Will is nice though.
