Naming baby Wilde..

MissWilde · 12/09/2011 18:03

Following on from a previous thread DH and I have done some serious thinking about baby names! We don't know what we are having yet but the name can't start with the letters A or C and it has to go with the surname Wilde. What do you think of some of these and other suggestions please. The list has changed a bit since last time-

Elise Wilde
Darcy Wilde
Matilda (Mattie) Wilde
Elena Wilde

Haydn Wilde
Todd Wilde
Logan Wilde
Ethan Wilde
Patrick Wilde

Suggestions also welcome! Do your worst :o

Todd really sticks out as NOT going with any of the other names.

aStarInStrangeways · 12/09/2011 18:08

patrick wilde is fantastic Grin

not so keen on your girl's names, darcy is my best of the bunch...elena is lovely but for some reason eleanor seems to flow better with your surname. you could always go all-out dramatic with something like scarlett Grin

MrsOzz · 12/09/2011 18:09

I think Elena is my fave girls name as I love the nn's Nell and Lenny.

Of your boys names I like Hadyn best. I think Toby fits in your list too.

brodanbell · 12/09/2011 18:10

I think all the girls names sound great with your surname, but in order of preference my choice would be Matilda, Elise, Darcy and Elena.

Boys I like Ethan and Haydn best. Logan and Patrick are also nice. Can't get my head around Todd. I find it very US college frat-boy-esque.

oh :(

i thought you were naming your baby Wilde... after Oscar maybe? I am slightly disappointed now Grin

I like all of your girls names... if I was forced to put them in an order I think it would be:
Darcy
Matilda
Elena
Elise

I really dislike Haydn, but that's fairly irrational.

I like Patrick best, followed by Logan and Ethan

Elise Wilde

Patrick Wilde

DigOfTheStump · 12/09/2011 20:28

Elise Wilde - don't love
Darcy Wilde - don't love
Matilda (Mattie) Wilde - think of Mattie as a boy's name
Elena Wilde - lovely

Haydn Wilde - don't like it, sounds a bit chavvy
Todd Wilde - as above
Logan Wilde - nice, but getting popular
Ethan Wilde - nice
Patrick Wilde - perfect

Can I add Juliet or Lydia to your list?

BelleEnd · 12/09/2011 20:30

Elena Wilde
or
Patrick Wilde

Absolutely brilliant names. I may change my surname now :o

countrybumpkin78 · 12/09/2011 21:05

Slightly jealous of your surname - very strong and romantic!

Ethan and Matilda would be my favourites but your surname makes them all sound fabulous!

upatdawn · 12/09/2011 21:42

Todd and Darcy!

pilates · 13/09/2011 16:36

Girls names are very nice

Boys names are awful, particularly dislike Haydn.

Very nice surname.

upatdawn · 13/09/2011 21:49

Ignore that I said Todd, my new fav is Ethan!

Rhubarbgarden · 14/09/2011 09:13

Elise and Patrick get my vote.

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 14/09/2011 09:36

Duncan or Gavin or Adrian would go beautifully.
I don't like any of your girls names, Elena would be better as Eleanor as someone else pointed out.

FairyArmadillo · 14/09/2011 09:38

Like Darcy, Elena, Ethan, Patrick Wilde. Not keen on Todd Wilde.

birdofthenorth · 14/09/2011 09:55

Matilda or Todd!

Like Logan Wilde too though

dearheart · 14/09/2011 10:40

Elena and Patrick.

Gluttondressedaslamb · 14/09/2011 14:00

Elise Wilde sounds too much like Ellies wild`. Elisa or Alyssa sounds better IMO

sjuperwolef · 14/09/2011 14:02

ethan and darcy Grin

Ebb · 14/09/2011 14:40

I like Matilda and Patrick best.

Avinalarf · 14/09/2011 14:40

Patrick and Matilda or Elena

Other boys names are bad.

HandsOffOurLand · 14/09/2011 14:47

Of the boys' names, it has to be Patrick - but only because the others are so shocking (sorry). All that can be said for them is that they go together. An Ethan would probably befriend a Hayden (or Cayden or Jayden) at school, and would be a pain in the bottom. Not that I am stereotyping or anything (and FWIW, my DC's names tend to feature in MN lists of the ponciest names in the history of child-naming, so our tastes are obviously different).

Girls' names are nicer IMO. Though, again, I'd go for Eleanor rather than Elena. And I wouldn't go for Darcy as I've come across too many of them.

MissWilde · 14/09/2011 19:19

What do you mean by 'naughty boy name'? How can you judge a child on their name?

Why not A or C names to go with Wilde, that is our surname and we have an Amelie.
