Do you prefer Katherine or Katerina?

I think I prefer Katerina but do you think it's a bit Russian Princess, I don't know, I think I like it because it sounds to me very feminine but not babyish?

Katherine might be a bit boring, but classic and strong which is the type of name I like, maybe goes better with DD name Adelaide?

Katherine. I like Katerina but think Katherine is stronger and more current. Katerina isn't quite the same but almost all the girls in my 8yos class have very feminine names, mostly ending in y/ie/ia and whilst they are nice names they do sound dated now.

I like Katherine. Actually, I like Catherine better and I have no idea why.

Katerina is pronouced Kat-a-reena mayanna123 so same name really. Is it obvious that Katerina is pronouced like that? Maybe not.

I like Katherine, just aware I probably sound like a Royalist when put next to DD name and i'm not at all.

Yes, Katharina and Katerina are pronounced the same, Kyrie. I guess I'm more used to the look of Katharina, but both would be fine.

I like Katherine, and I like Katya. Katerina is lovely but not for an English girl imo.

My name is one of them and I hate it. I hate nearly all the variations of it. My course director at university took one look at it, my middle name and then me and said "if I was your mother I would have called you by your middle name and dropped the first one." and then spent the rest of the three year course calling me by my middle name.

I have, however, just realised that I like Kitty and that could be a diminutive.

I also now realise that I do not mean variations, I mean diminutives... Don't I? Oh it's been a long day...

Katherine is easily my prefered choice although i'd spell it Catherine if it were me.

Karina is nice too.

Thanks for the replies, despite nearly everyone preferring Katherine I think I'm feeling more drawn to Katerina. I have thought today how much DS1 might sound out of place with 2 royal type of names. I will keep looking for now and will ask DH about Carine.

I'm Katherine so I'm biased, but I think it's lovely and the best spelling! My mum chose it after reading the book by Anya Seton because she liked the way it looked written down (not because she hoped I'd become a royal mistress and beget a dynasty) and it's one of my favourite books. I might have to go and re-read it now...

Katerina here. I like Kathryn but not Katherine (or Catherine), but I like Katerina and Ekaterina more. I like Russian / Greek names

I prefer Katerina, Catrina or Catriona.

I'm Katherine and I do love my name. I think Katerina is a bit much for an english child. My H's pronunciation turns it into Katrin which I like, or Katrina. Both better (less fussy?) than Katerina. I like Karima (Katherine in Arabic) and Karine.

We have a Katherine, who gets Katerina as a nickname from us (but not from her friends).
