There is another variation Lilias .... I had a great-something-aunt of this name - on checking it out it appears to be Scottish, which I didn't know.

Ooh, 'tis pretty. Like Saoirse with Imogen better than Lilia - do you have Celtic links? If not she might be in for a lifetime of

'That's a nice name, where are your family from'
'Bury (or wherever you are from!)'
'Oh. Right then'

I pronounce Lilah lie-la.

DP wanted Lilia for our DS (if he was a girl). Weirdly, he saw the name on some italian mineral water when we on on holiday, and decided he loved it!

Ha! Thanks for comments! My DH currently preferring Lilia Saoirse to Imogen Saoirse... I'm really divided so any help is brilliant and really appreciated! I'm Irish, hence the Saoirse so hopefully being half Irish would be enough of an explanation for her to give!

I think Lilia is a very pretty name, it was top of my list when expecting DS2. I have a friend with a grown-up Lilia who is stunning, couldn`t imagine her by any other name whatever Shakespeare may have thought!

Of the two, I like Lilia Saoirse best.

Eliza is fabulous. I would put it slightly ahead of Lilia and way ahead of Imogen.

My little girl is Lillia which is the Arabic form of Lily and we wanted Arabic names due to Dh's heritage. Never thought of tampons before, so cheers for that....
We spelt her name with 2 L's so folk don't think we'd named her after that dancer off Strictly. Her middle name is Eve after my Granny. I really like it and have only met one other.

Eliza is a much stronger name than Lilia. I would definitely go with that OP, if it's one you are also considering.

My daughter is named Lilia. It has never caused hysterical laughter.

Seems odd that people would associate it with a tampon brand from 90 years ago. How old are you??

However I don't want the name to become too popular, so perhaps I will start making tampon jokes to put people off Grin

I prefer Lilia way more to Imogen. I used to love the name Imogen but everyone now associates it with that tramp, Imogen Thomas.
I have no idea why people think of tampons they've obviously done far too much research in their spare time.

I like Lilia, I think it is pretty. I had never heard of 1920's Lilia sanitary stuff before, so I would not associate it with that. There used to be a dancer on Strictly called Lilia Kopylova, Russian I think, so I have always thought it was a Russian version of Lily, and much prettier than the English version of Lily IMO.

I like Imogen too, but think Lilia edges it for me.
