Amelia

Ursula is awful, as is Ophelia. You will have to stump up for the therapy bills.

lurkinginthebackground · 03/09/2011 23:22

I like Marissa best.

naughtaless · 03/09/2011 23:28

Marissa.

Tortoise · 03/09/2011 23:28

Amelia
Marissa
Don't like Ursula at all.

ensure · 03/09/2011 23:32

I only like Ursula! Marissa at a push.

Collision · 03/09/2011 23:34

Ursula to me is the seawitch from the Little Mermaid!

Ophelia is lovely as is Octavia imho

Amelia is pretty and I do not know any!

Marissa sounds made up

Unlurked · 03/09/2011 23:35

Ophelia. By a mile.

I really really dislike Amelia.

ShoutyHamster · 03/09/2011 23:49

Marissa - lovely

stripeybump · 03/09/2011 23:53

Marissa - lovely and unusual

Ursula - hmm I'm Scottish and don't like it with a posh English accent and no 'r' sound but hey ho! She might get called 'Arseula' too.

Ophelia - lovely, but 'I feel ya'

Amelia - my fave but quite common now, whether that bothers you or not.

Ursula is fab.

Marissa is too frilly.
Ophelia lends itself to all sort of 'jokes' based on 'feel ya'.
Amelia is very popular and has the sound 'mealy' in the middle.

herecomesthsun · 04/09/2011 07:41

I like Ursula by far the best as it reminds me of Ursula le Guin, whose books I loved as a child. It means little bear, I think. Pretty and not over-used.

Ophelia has a very sad end in Shakespeare (and I assume your surname isn't Cox).
There seem to be lots of nn Millies about, and the other 2 names don't appeal to me in their full form.

MatLeaveForever · 04/09/2011 07:46

I have a Marissa and we love it. Only anoying thing is that some people think we've called her Melissa, or try to spell it with one s. Also like Amelia from your list.

comedaygoday · 04/09/2011 08:21

Definitely Ursula for me.

activate · 04/09/2011 08:22

Amelia

Marissa is a bitch
Ophelia is shakespeare
and Ursula is Andress

activate · 04/09/2011 08:23

Now I probably should have read the thread first

but everyone gets connotations of names by their personal experiences - I found it far more difficult to name my daughter than any of my sons because every name reminded me of someone

Cereal · 04/09/2011 08:34

Amelia

greenzebra · 04/09/2011 08:53

Ophelia, its the name of my DD1. Its beautiful and we call her Fi for short.

randomimposter · 04/09/2011 09:51

Marissa probably, though much prefer Melissa
Emilia much nicer IMO than Amelia

Idreamofsunshine · 04/09/2011 10:43

Marissa or Amelia for me. Ursula is such an ugly sounding name and I dont much like Ophelia.

LynetteScavo · 04/09/2011 10:46

Ophelia

pinkgirlythoughts · 04/09/2011 11:40

Ophelia.

Although be prepared for 'hilarious' people (like my DP Hmm) to go "Ophelia bosom, har har har" when you introduce her!

pommedechocolat · 04/09/2011 11:45

Marissa I guess. I think I prefer Melissa though.

Amelia is just so popular.

MelinaM · 04/09/2011 13:54

Ophelia is the nicest, it's lovelySmile

Amelia is okay but very overused I feel, Marissa I find very 'American', and it reminds me of Melissa which I absolutely abhor! ...but of course that's just meGrin
