Olivia sibling John?

We have a daughter called Olivia and I'm pregnant with a boy...
We like the family name John but I'm worried that Olivia 'n' John sounds too much like Olivia Newton John!! What does everyone think? Am I worrying unnecessarily? We could give the nickname Johnny (not family name) but I don't want to have to do this....

It was what i thought first. What about Jonathan?

5inthebed · 03/09/2011 22:14

I would never hve thought that. Can't see the problem really.

supermarketjeans · 03/09/2011 22:15

If it does remind certain people of Olivia Newton John it is not of your children's generation and will bear little relevance to them -

GwendolineMaryLacey · 03/09/2011 22:17

Just introduce them as John and Olivia then. I don't think its a problem.

MatLeaveForever · 03/09/2011 22:34

Just don't have a third child and call it Newton ;)

Cereal · 03/09/2011 22:38

I did think of it, sorry.

supadupapupascupa · 03/09/2011 22:39

i thought it too immediately, sorry

ivykaty44 · 03/09/2011 22:40

I did think of it before I opened the post and thought oh no...

naughtaless · 03/09/2011 22:46

I too thought Olivia Newton John, but as supermarketjeans says it will not be your children's generation.

kat2504 · 04/09/2011 10:42

I thought about Ma and Pa Walton but maybe that just says too much about my crap tv watching habits recently!

othersideofchannel · 04/09/2011 12:12

Yes, I too think of Olivia N John. But as others have said, perhaps the younger generation won't.

first1 · 04/09/2011 15:43

I too thought of it instantly but as another poster said, introduce them as John and Olivia, sign cards etc in that order

sjuperwolef · 04/09/2011 16:00

first thing i thought of too, sorry. especially now she's been on glee and thats quite 'culturally relevant' at the moment and may remain so for a while.

lurkinginthebackground · 04/09/2011 16:07

It won't occur to their friends.

I'd say either call the boy jonathon formally for such purposes, or just introduce them as John and Olivia. Tbh, you're only a family unit for the 20 or so years of their lives and then for the next 60 years they will be known as John + wife, or Olivia and hubby. So I wouldn't let that dictate the names to me. Swapping their order around should be enough.

Besides, chances are they'll get nicknames and Olivia might well become a Livvie or something in a few years anyway!
