What do you think of these girl names?

Amice (pr A-miss)
Leonie (or the french way of Léonie )
Mina
Nuala
Orla
Mallaidh
Mhairi (pr: va-ree)

Thanks (I'm french/irish and DP is Scottish so that mix does make sense - to us at least)

Leonie complete favourite.
I like the others but not as much as Leonie.

Busybee21 · 25/08/2011 13:41

Nuala is gorgeous! Best as a nn for Fionnuala I think though so there is a choice to have a long name or the nns Finn or Nuala

Amice (pr A-miss) - I like it, you don't get a lot of them - is it French??
Leonie (or the french way of Léonie ) - As you are french I'd use it with the é. People maybe would not include it and just use the e
Mina - It is alright, not the best
Nuala - I like it, popular??
Orla - Again it is okay, bit old fashioned in my head though
Mallaidh - pronouciation stumped be for a bit, but I think I managed it in the end. Not the best
Mhairi (pr: va-ree) - I do actually like it but would the pr completely stop people? unless you live in Scotland?

Hope that helps

Amice - "amiss" in English means that there is something wrong
Leonie - very nice
Mina - OK
Nuala - not keen
Orla - not keen
Mallaidh - quite like
Mhairi - OK

LittleWhiteWolf · 25/08/2011 17:08

Mhairi is my favourite. Not overly keen on the others.

usingapseudonym · 25/08/2011 17:25

Don't really like them other than Leonie.

Mondaybaby · 26/08/2011 13:25

I love Mina. Not keen on the others.

minipie · 26/08/2011 16:09

Leonie and Mina are by far my favourites.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 27/08/2011 07:47

Leonie or Mhairi

ShoutyHamster · 27/08/2011 12:01

Mhairi is great - know a few - one living in England - no pronunciation problems after first intro! Goes by Vee for short - lovely.

TidyDancer · 27/08/2011 13:09

Leonie is the only one I really like. Nuala is okay though.

toomuchpurple · 27/08/2011 15:49

I like Amice (and I always say amiss with the a with a uh sound so I don't see that you would have a problem)
But I also like Leonie and Mina (oh and Mhairi)

DontWorryBaby · 27/08/2011 15:52

Nuala, Orla or Mhairi would be my choices.

pointydog · 27/08/2011 16:07

Mina - Dracula but she is cool
Nuala - old people
Orla - not a fan
Mallaidh - Why not just use Molly? but it is alright esp as you are irish

mathanxiety · 29/08/2011 01:11
