After much deliberation DH and I have narrowed the shortlist down to three names for each sex. As we are expecting twins we will be chosing one name from each list.

Boys
Lennox Reuben Olivier
Asher James Nicholas
Miles Gideon Silas

Girls
Tallulah Georgina Bo
Emilia Gabriella Quinn
Stephanie Juliet Coco

What are your oppinions on the names and what are your favourite boy/girl combinations? Also the two names have to fit in with the name of DS1 Chester Stan Arlo. Any help much appreciated!

I like Miles and Asher. The other boys' names are all OK.

Don't like any of your girls' names.

kelly2000 · 24/08/2011 17:07

OK, I am going to be honest here and say I really do not like the name Silas, as it sounds like Silo or Silage i.e manure, plus someone told me it was the name of a character on Hollyoaks which is really naff.
I also think tallulah sounds a bit like an airheads name, I know it is stupid and snobby, but you meet a tallulah and you do not imagine someone very clever, its just a bit footballer's wife-ish. I can imagine she might shorten it to Tally.

AnnMarie82 · 24/08/2011 18:45

I had no idea Silas was a character on Hollyoaks! Surely that doesn't matter if it's used as a middle name though?

Silas = Silage, like kelly2000 said. No, no and no. I like Lennox, but don't like Len. I actually like Quinn for a boy.

LynetteScavo · 24/08/2011 18:57

Asher James Nicholas - Perfect! Smile

Juliet Coco Bo (yes, I know it's not on the list, but I like it)

kelly2000 · 24/08/2011 19:53

Apparently it is a character so i am told. It was a name I was thinking of until someone said it out loud and then said that it sounded like Silage, the hollyoaks angle was then just the icing on the cake. It was also the name of the nummery who killed people in the da vinci code.

glittershoes · 24/08/2011 20:30

OK - lovely list of names, sometimes it is so hard to narrow it down as there are so many gorgeous ones to pick from!

Lennox Reuben Olivier - Like Lennox but not Len, love Reuben but getting popular, love Olivier but only as a middle name
Asher James Nicholas - Love love love Asher, James is a bit meh IMO, likewise Nicholas
Miles Gideon Silas - Not too keen on Miles, love Gideon and think Silas is ok.

Girls
Tallulah Georgina Bo - love Tallulah but not brave enough to use it, Georgina is ok, likewise Bo
Emilia Gabriella Quinn - not keen on any really
Stephanie Juliet Coco - love Juliet and Coco, Stephanie is ok

Nickname wise - you could have Lex for Lennox (thus avoiding Len!), Ash for Asher, Milo for Miles or Miley, Tally or Lula for Tallulah, Emmy or Mila for Emilia and Steph, Effie or Nie for Stephanie.

I would also suggest having Juliet as a first name with the nickname Ettie.

If it was me, and to go with Chester, I would have:

Asher Reuben Olivier or Asher Reuben Gideon

and

Juliet Stephanie Coco

Busybee21 · 24/08/2011 21:09

Boys
Lennox Reuben Olivier - Love! A great name which stands out from the crowd but not in a bad way.
Asher James Nicholas - Like Asher but the two middle names are a bit plain.
Miles Gideon Silas - Gideon Silas is great! Not sure about Miles though.

Girls
Tallulah Georgina Bo
Emilia Gabriella Quinn
Stephanie Juliet Coco

No point commenting individually on the girls names as I love them all! In terms of which names go together I would say Lennox and Tallulah, Emilia and Miles or Stephanie and Asher. They also all go beatifully with Chester.

Congratulations and good luck!

AnnMarie82 · 24/08/2011 21:50

have decided to swap the names around a bit, what combinations of those names sound good (first name and two middle names)?

OP posts:
Sofiaintherye · 24/08/2011 22:00

I like Lennox, sounds very masculine to me. And Emilia is lovely, it always reminds me of the Italian region Emilia-Romana.

mathanxiety · 24/08/2011 22:09

I would leave Lennox Reuben Olivier as it stands.

I would use
Nicholas Asher James
Silas Gideon Myles

I would also leave Tallulah Georgina Bo as is, and use

Emilia Gabriella Hope
Juliet Stephanie Coco

(I like the O sound in Coco and Bo, and I think Quinn might be interpreted by some as part 1 of a double barreled surname)

mathanxiety · 24/08/2011 22:09

Alternative to Hope would be Romy.

MetalSian · 24/08/2011 22:14

How can Silo/Silage = Manure?
I don't think you know farming very well kelly2000 ;P.

kelly2000 · 24/08/2011 23:04

No-I do not know farming too well. But silage is not good, I thought it was some kind of manure type waste? What is it exactly?

mathanxiety · 24/08/2011 23:08

Fermented grass. It is a bit smelly.

Shoutymomma · 24/08/2011 23:13

It's a gert lovely smell, silage. Shoe polish is too, but that doesn't make it a good name. Mind you, tarmac smells nice and is alarmingly close to Cormac.....

I suppose, since cows ferment grass in their rumens, cow pats are sort of fermented grass too, or the by products of fermentation...

I love all of your names! If you were thinking about re-ordering some of them how about -

Asher James Silas
Nicholas Miles Reuben
Lennox James Olivier

Georgina Emilia Bo
Quinn Stephanie Coco
Tallulah Gabriella Juliet

MetalSian · 25/08/2011 10:27

Silage is fermented grass =].
For the animals to eat.
It does smell, but it isn't too bad.

And a Silo stores food such as grain.

AnnMarie82 · 25/08/2011 11:05

Is the Silas/Silage thing really a problem if Silas is used as a middle name?

OP posts:
Busybee21 · 25/08/2011 13:46

I'm not really seeing how the Silage connection would be a problem if you are using Silas as a middle name, not many people will even know what your child's middle name is

kelly2000 · 25/08/2011 13:58

Annmarie,
I am sure not everyone is going to think of Silage, it was just my opinion after other people said it to me. You have to go with how you feel. Do not not pick a name you love because a stranger is not keen on it.
Just a note Gideon is also the real first name of George Osbourne.

AnnMarie82 · 25/08/2011 14:16

I do agree that the silage thing would put me off the name Silas as a first name (teasing potential) but definitely not as a middle name
