Mulling this one over. I like it as long as I don't think "Clarkson."

What short versions are there?

Thoughts?

I've known a few Gerrys. Never a Jerry.

Mixed opinions :)

Surely Jerry isn't just American though.....thinking Jerry from "The Good Life"..

I think Jeremy is ruined by Kyle and Clarkson for at least another 15 years.

Jerry or Gerry is really good though - you need a longer name that could have this nickname. Gerard isn't too good though, though I like it pronouced the Irish way which is like Jerrod.

My Dad is Jeremy, generally shortened to J

Quite nice.
Also quite posh and quite wet, IMHO.

Pampered Tory overtones? Lovely! No, seriously: I love Jeremy. Used to always associate it with two other long-time faves Josh and Lachlan. The latter two subsequently became way to popular (in Australia, at least), but Jeremy is still relatively rare. I only remember ever meeting one adult Jeremy...

Ick no... NO! Posh-twat-uber-geek name.

And I can only hear it (in my head) with a soft, speech-afflicted 'r' in the middle.

I like Jeremy. Jem is nice too.

I also know a Jeremy shortened to Rem.

Reminds me of the Pearl Jam song.

I do really like the name.

Much prefer Jerome with Jem as a NN personally.

I don't normally look in baby name threads, but this thread was compelling.
I'm very sorry, but Jeremy conjures up images of nerdy IT geek, back in the 80s. Really not keen whatsoever. In fact, I'm screwing my face up as I type. (probably tmi!)

Not necessarily American NN Jerry. I had a Brit BF called Jerry.
I prefer Jerome but of course, Duncan is best.

Love the nn Jem and quite like Jerry but unfortunately my instant thoughts are "jezza from peep show"...
