It's horrible. Vinnie is a small thug with an earring and buzz cut. Vincent is better but an old mans name. Sorry.

vividgingerchilli · 16/08/2011 07:27

Victor Meldrew! And wasn't Vinnie that footballer with a tendency towards violence?

kittensliveupstairs · 16/08/2011 08:03

Puts me in mind of vinegar. I really don't like it.
Have you considered Duncan?

skinnychai · 16/08/2011 08:25

It's a great name!

cleanteeth · 16/08/2011 10:45

My XP was called Vincent (vinnie for short) and I love it. Think it needs a good middle name to go with it though otherwise it can end up sounding a bit thuggish.

PercyFilth · 16/08/2011 11:07

I always think Vincent Van Gogh

BuntyPenfold · 16/08/2011 12:28

I think earring and buzzcut too - sorry.

wordsonapage · 16/08/2011 12:30

Smirk at Duncan

I think Colins due a revival

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 16/08/2011 17:52

Had to come back to this thread as I heard a little boy being called Vincent today in the park. It really suited him!

Bellbell · 16/08/2011 20:10

Vincent is a really lovely name, but if you want to shorten it Vinny is better than Vinnie - less Vinnie Jones and more cool I reckon.

redglow · 16/08/2011 20:56

Thanks for your replies I thought it would be a bit different. Perhaps it will be a girl

Vinnie horrible! I may be biased because my big sister gave me a vynle doll when they were first out and I named her vinnie (it sounded right) but the little thug who lived next door kidnapped her and shot her eyes out with his toy bow and arrowShock.

Too many horrific memoriesGrin

redglow · 18/08/2011 22:51

Maybe you should have called it something different maybe the name attracted trouble.

sunshinenanny · 19/08/2011 23:25

redglow; How could a sweet little dolly with blond curls and blue eyes attract trouble just because she was named VinnieSad

duckdodgers · 19/08/2011 23:26

Awful

serin · 20/08/2011 00:55

Very cool, and the two I know are both at private school and are not thuggish at all!

If it was good enough for St Vincent..........

hangon · 20/08/2011 13:08

Just wondering sunshine nanny what the little thug next door was called. Vincent sounds classy but not Vinnie. How about vinnie vino ?
