Eva Rose or Emma Catherine?

Our surname is a short name starting with D.

Other names that have been considered for middle names are Mary and Charlotte. What do you think? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Emma Catherine- lovely and not following the thread.

sleepevader · 15/08/2011 13:45

oops meant trend not thread!

I'm an Emma so definitely recommend it ;) We like Catherine as a potential for our daughter but am also worried there might be 1000s of them now post wedding. Arg!

Emma Catherine, sweet, classic & there won't be 3 in her class (Eva/ Eve/ Evie/ Evelyn is sooo popular right now!)

smallgreycat · 15/08/2011 17:15

Thanks everyone, lots of food for thought re the popularity of Eva. I must admit I didn't realise how popular the name was (even though a friend of a friend's daughter has recently been called Ava Rose!) There has been an Eva in the last two generations of my family so I wish I could use it without being worried about having 4 others in her class but hey, I love Emma too.....

Emma Catherine.

How about more than one middle name so you can keep the family tradition...Emma Catherine Eva.
Love both sets of name though. Both SO pretty!
Preference just with Emma.

Fatshionista · 15/08/2011 17:51

Emma Catherine. Lovely name.

PedigreeChump · 15/08/2011 21:25

I don't know many babies but one that I do know is an Emma Catherine... don't know any Eva Roses! Grin

redglow · 15/08/2011 21:28

I imagine a pretty little girl called that how lovely

oohlaalaa · 16/08/2011 14:38

Emma Catherine edges it, but both very nice names

Firawla · 16/08/2011 14:39

Eva Rose is prettier

Hope88 · 16/08/2011 16:51

I prefer Emma Catherine.

Eva Rose doesn't sound quite right. I feel Eva needs a longer middle name. Maybe Eva Catherine or Eva Mary or Eva Charlotte.

I am late and you've probably had your DD by now, but was searching for a reference to me in a post (badly) and saw this... obviously I would go for Emma Catherine but then I am biased!

But wanted to say that freakily, my maiden name was also short starting with D.

kerala · 06/03/2012 15:44

Eva/Eve is full. There are far too many (one third of girls in DDs class have a variant of this name). Don't do it! Would go with Emma.

EllenParsons · 06/03/2012 22:07

Both very pretty but I prefer Emma Catherine. It seems softer and more classic to me, just lovely :)

welovesausagedogs · 06/03/2012 22:25

Eva Rose is absolutely gorgeous, it's a wonderful name and so feminine without being childish. I think Emma is a bit out of date i know lots of teenagers called Emma, was a popular name in the 1990's not quite classic enough to start being used again.

MordechaiVanunu · 06/03/2012 23:25

Emma Catherine. It's lovely.

Emma, is a gorgeous soft feminine but not cutsey name that is timeless.
Think Jane Austin.

(Jane is v lovely too actually)

Eva is bang on trend as they say so just screams 'NOW' rather than noticing it is a classic name too.

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 07/03/2012 00:51

Eva (and its variations) is about the most popular first name right now.

Rose is tied equal with May/Mae as this generation's most popular middle name.

So Eva Rose will date, date, date.

It might sound nice and pretty now, since it's fashionable now, but it will sound very dated in another 20 years, the way Joanne, Claire and Karen sound a bit dull and dated now.

Emma Catherine is lovely. I also really like Mary.
