Dylan Thomas was originally pronounced Dull-un, but he chose to anglicise it to Dill-on as he got older. He famously hated Wales: "Wales is the land of my fathers, and my fathers can have it".
My cousin who is English lives in the home counties etc.. has a Dylan, pronounced Dill-on, and was rather shocked to find it should be Dull-an! Mostly I feel it's just ignorance!
I'm not welsh but do live in Wales and it really should be pro-nouced the correct way. Smile

Bob Dylan real surname is Zimmerman, he changed it to Dylan in his college days.

I think it can be quirky to give a girl a boy's name. Like Jamie.

Plus it's an anagram of Lynda! Grin

YES this was the name I chose for DD2 but a few weeks before the birth my house was burgled and the police came to tell me they had arrested a man called Dylan so it lost its shine. If I hadn't had that experience I definitely would have recommended it, its not that unusual in america. There was a a female DYlan on Desperate Housewives I understand and it appeared on the 2010 stats for girls. I'm a sad sad woman who checks up on all names I really like just in case Wink

We have one. She is 3 and we love it. She suits it. Pronounced Dill but spelt Dylan.
